This could be handy for those planning to close down during the Canada Post lockout.

Put your items up for free, immediately close them, moving them to Unsold.

Ta dah! Lots of Free Listings ready to go when Canada Post is told to let their workers back in and sit down with a mediator.

I am missing something here femme. This will only work if the strike is done before the 19th of July right?

You've accepted the offer "List free – up to 10,000, 30-day fixed price listings

Awesome. Now I can end my listings on June 25, take a break and clean my room (a dumpster as per my mom) and get some new listings ready, and relist when the strike is over / on July 19 Smiley Happy Even if the strike isn't over by the 19th I wouldn't be surprised if there'd be another new promo then. After all, the last promo ended today and we got a new promo right away. Or I'll use CCE as my backup if the strike is still on by then.

I really doubt there will be a national strike.

The union is better off by having revolving short strikes a day or so at most and even just one shift. Disruption, but not enough that the overall mails stops moving, just slows down.

Because when a worker goes on strike, he doesn't get paid.

And the union members have bills to pay.

That's why I said "lockout'.

Most of the publice don't understand that a lockout means that a willing workforce is not allowed to work.

It's a management strike.

And our contemporary right wing media (except for the CBC and The Beaverton) is very happy to keep people so confused that they blame the workers for any disruption, instead of the management.

So you are going to be hearing strike strike strike -- even when the Canada Post management locks out the entire workforce.

Yes, I meant to edit "lockout" back in there but I ran out of time because I was too focused on the TV...

I'm also a unionized worker so personally I hope strikes don't happen in the near future. There was a strike a few years ago before I graduated but I haven't been paying attention to details so I'm unfamiliar with how it actually works. Overall I do like my job so it's definitely more enjoyable for me to go to work than to stand in a picket line... Smiley Happy

National strike or not, it's still nice for me to take eBay off my mind for a couple weeks and organize things. I don't really want to look into CCE unless I have no choice and considering the time investment it could involve, it's not really worth it for my low sales volume.

".........a lockout means that a willing workforce is not allowed to work"

There's more to it than that. Sure, they want to work but only on their own terms. Should CP allow them to do rotating strikes and continue to negotiate without an end in sight?  Would willing workers threaten to strike in the first place?

I have never belonged to a union and admit that I find it difficult to understand the mindset that they are entitled to specific benefits such as job security and they are willing to disrupt other lives/businesses to get what they want.  I wonder if the average union worker feels entitled or if it  is mainly the union pushing for change.

That tells me that the exodus rates are higher than Ebay Canada anticipated. Since many volume sellers in good standing already receive a 20% discount, I wonder if Ebay will honor 40%. That's a hefty haircut on revenue to take for a poor decision.

What are you talking about??

This promo is for free listings (10,000 vs the previous 100,000). Since conversion to C$ is still ongoing on eBay.ca (until August for GTC) not really much too much of a surprise.

There's also a promo, beginning today, for a 20% reduction in FVF's, for the first 10,000 Canadian dollar listings.  I also wondered if that would be an additional 20% for those of us who already get a 20% discount.

Based on past ones that I've seen that would be 20% off, then 20% off -- so effective rate of 36%

So if normal fee was TRS discounted to 8%, the extra discount would make it 6.4%

Anyone got a link to this promo? I don't see it under my selling manager and it doesn't look like anyone posted it (I might have missed it) so I just wanted to see if I could activate one for the heck of it. Thanks!

By invitation only, like most promotions these days.

If you do not see it... you were not invited.  You can't get them all!
