Kids can't bid on eBay. It is necessary to be over 18 to bid.

Parents can bid for their children however.

Yes, there are some low prices, but more important there are many unusual or even unique items available.

If you are only looking for low prices, set the Search button to Lowest Price plus Shipping, rather than the default Best Match.

Be careful with those low priced listings however. Asian scammers sometimes list and send nothing believing that most of their customers will forget such cheap purchases. And Western sellers who listed too low sometimes refuse to ship at the advertised price.

There is a Buyer Protection program in place for both these situations.

Problems are rare, but be cautious.

Also. 98% is not a particularly good rating for a seller. While you are learning the ropes, stick to sellers with 99-100% approval ratings.

Open a Paypal account and back it with a credit card. This gives you both PP protection and protection from the credit card. You'll probably never need it, but it's nice to know it's there.
