Best way to ship shoes to the US in their original box and without?

I am completely new to selling and shipping and I'm finding shipping to be it very intimidating. And I'm finding that most internet searches are only really helpful for shipping from the states.

If I'm selling a pair of heels with they're original box(12.5 by 13 by 4.5 inches, how should I be packaging it?

Also, whats the best way to ship without the original box?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I recently sold a pair of ankle booties to the US and thought best way to ship them was in a shoe box (cost me approx $16CDN), reason being by time they arrive to buyer, they may have been dented or scratched etc. However, you can always use lots of bubble wrap and stuff the shoes with newspaper/tissue paper, then stuff that in a bubble envelope. If you want, you can also stuff any empty parts of the envelope with newspaper just to be safe.
