If you are buying to resell, there are many advantages to calling a lawyer and setting up a legit business. For one, it is what is required by law. Expect spend around $700.00 - $1000.00 Canadian for the paperwork. Check with an accountant for what else you need and remitting tax etc.
The nice thing is that you will then be able to write off tons of stuff possibly including, internet access, computer equipment purchases etc. If working out of your home you can also charge your business rent (figure out how much floor space you require for inventory, packing shipping etc). You Will be required to charge and pay GST for orders shipped within Canada. Some sellers state this in the TOS but I simply alter the sale price (lower it) and then show the GST as a different line. I assume the 7% loss for the few Canadian orders I ship.

Setting up a business costs about $50, it's a corporation that costs $1000. If you don't need a corporation, a business would be good enough.

If you set up a company , watch the taxes, revenue canada does audit ebay business.
PST has to be charged also on the shipping charge.
I did not no that when we started out, I thought pst would only on the auction winning price, but found that out during the audit, that the total value of the item includes the shipping cost , so taxes have to be charged on the total.

Bearathome thank you for mentioning that PST has to be charged on shipping charges - I was certain that they only should be charged GST! I hope I will never be audited, but in the evnt that I am you have undoubtedly saved me a whole lot of grief!
