Buyer claims item was damaged during shipping, what do I do?

The buyer of my item claims it was damaged badly during shipping.  It only sold for $5 but shipping via Canada Post was $15 and that included insurance.  Should I refund the buyer's money and go after Canada Post or is that the buyer's responsibility?

What shipping option was used? Also, what was the content...

Ask buyer to send you pictures, you mad need it for your claim to Canada Post.

If, according to pictures, item was damages during shipping, yes I would suggest you to refund the buyer 5$ item + 15$ shipping and then after, to contact Canada Post for claim.

Canada Post may ask for pictures, and will ask for buyer's address or phone number; they may contact him for their investigation.

What shipping option was used? Also, what was the contents? Some items are not covered under Canada Post's parcel insurance.
