Buying unlocked cell phone

Any experience buying an unlocked cell phone? Do they work with any carrier in Canada?

I bought my cellphone in Europe as an unlocked device and I it works just like a regular phone in Canada.

You need to ask the seller if he knows if it'll work in Canada if it's from another country. Unlocking a cellphone costs $5-$10 that I know of.
