If a CP Shipping pool is put together as it stands. We would only be able to use credit card . No pool member would get terms. The on-line VCD program would be the only option , discounts would be on , shipments across Canada on packages over 1kg on air or ground . Discounts would be on USA parcels over 1kg both on ground and air . Also there would be a 2% discount on your overall bill with CP when using the CP VCD program
Would you be involved in the CP pool with me
Yes/ Or No
If no please explain , I will not be offended

Right now I have credit terms and I am at a Level 2 to the US. The terms are really great as I am only billed once a month and have 2 weeks to pay so I am getting upwards of 6-7 weeks on some shipments with no interest charges.
If I am trading my Level 2 for an identical or similar discount and having to use a credit card, I am not interested.

Because ACP rate will have a discount on the Ground shipment to America over 1kg. At the present time Ebay's Discount rate does not include ground shipments over 1kg to America
Soon there will be two choices for shipping on-line with CP the Commerical rate over $200.oo with the brokerage fees added . As well as under 200.00 value with no brokerage fee's
So the answer would be Yes the rate will be better with the pooled ACP rate

Yes I do my manifests manually.
It doesnt take much time and it bugs the heck out of Canada Post.
It will be worth the 2% discount I wont get in the New Year to keep doing it the way that I do it.
I will possibly be getting into some big volume sales in the New Year however they will be comics and wont qualify for these discounts. If this takes off, I plan on shipping 200-1,000 per week (I have access to an inventory of over 500,000). I suppose I will have to discuss some form of media mailing with CP or maybe the PS rate will be best.

If you are writing the manifest manually . The only rate charged for writen manual manifest is what is called small business rate
Now before you get upset- let me explain
Back on July 7 this year 2003 they rolled out Expediented commerical rates to the USA
These rates can only be used on line
Level 1,2,3,4 to USA are given and charged on line, . As we have discussed before they are really meaningless because of the hidden brokerage fees
However my Cp Rep told me as of July 7 all written manifests are only given small business rate only
So what I am saying is this , if a manifest is written out the only rate charged is the small businenss rate . Written manifests no longer as of July 7th have levels.
Now this is were Canada Post double talk comes into play . You may have level 2 or three . However you may not have known , that it only applies and is used when you use it on-line ......and as we have discusses before using it on-line is meaningless
When you write a manifest out , the only discount given is the small business rate . Yes this rate is cheaper then CP counter rate , this often confuses people and they assume from this discount ? That this is their level (whatever) discount
You will see that Canada Post , is doing it too us again . Double talk.....

This goes back to what I originally said that the ombudsman overseeing the post office should be called in to review their tactics.
The other thing is I dont have a postal cost (its not a cost centre to me) as my customers are paying and I have never received a complaint about what I charge, probably because people expect to pay more when a delicate musical instrument is being shipped.
If I get into shipping comics in 8 1/2 X 11 envelopes I will have to be more competitive.

You can definitely count me in!!!
I would like to add for those currently with terms with Canada Post there are some advantages to using a credit card. For those currently with terms you can still get upwards of 6-7 weeks terms on most of your purchases although it may require a bit more work. If you have more than one credit card with different statement dates, then you can use the Credit Card A until the statement date of Credit Card B and then use Credit Card B. You then switch back to Credit card A once you pass the statement date for Credit Card A. This way you maximize the time that the amounts are carried on your credit card.
Another benefits to using credit cards are the various programs available. Depending on the credit card you use you can be earning cash discounts up to 2%, airmiles, Canadian Tire points or a multitude of other freebies.

I get big discounts from post because of the sistered account with my regular business however I only use the VCD desktop software in order to make it quicker to fill out the manifest and upload it. As far as savings, Forget it.
