Can non-paying buyers leave negative feedback for me if I give them negative for non-payment?

I've had several non-paying buyers lately. If I leave them negative feedback for non-payment, can they leave negative feedback in retaliation?

Thanks!

Hello 'momsgot4',

You cannot leave negative feedback for buyers.  Buyers can only receive positive or none at all.

Have you browsed through this page and all the links on the right about feedback:

http://pages.ebay.ca/help/feedback/allaboutfeedback.html

When you file an Unpaid Item case, and no payment arrives, you close the case, get your Final Value Fees back, and no one leaves feedback.  If, by chance, some scoundrel managed to sneak in a negative to you before you closed the case, it will be removed automatically.  For the matter of that, even if the person left you a positive it would be removed automatically.

If it were not removed for some reason (endless 'glitches' in the system) you simply call ebay and have it deleted.

And just so you know, people are not allowed to leave negative comments beside a green positive.

So if you were thinking about giving the person a tongue-lashing couched in a positive feedback, that would be grounds for the receiver to report it to ebay.

Besides, you don't want all your good buyers to think you are an ill-tempered hot-head with all those outgoing negatives,  do you?

Just open & close the case, get your fees back, block the nonpayer, and move on.

dmil gives good advice.

In addition, when you leave a deadbeat that UID Strike, he will find it harder to bid with thousands of other sellers.

We have set our Seller Preferences to automatically Block bids from deadbeats with Strikes. You should too.

And if you win the UID, you get your FVF back, too.

Ok, thank you both! I've never left negative feedback before but it's been frustrating with several non payers lately and a few of them have been rude as well as not paying.

Wrong question.

The correct questions are:

How do I get my selling fees (about 10% of the unpaid price) back?

and

How do I punish the deadbeat?

The answer is:

Open an Unpaid Item Dispute.

You can do this 96 hours after the purchase.

I usually send a single polite note about the unpaid item on Day Three.

If the bidder does not pay , open the UID through the Resolution Centre at the bottom of this page.

If the bidder still does not pay, and in my experience about half will respond to either the note or the UID,

then you can close the Dispute (after another 96 hours - sigh),

and relist the item or offer it to the underbidder.

The deadbeat gets a Strike which makes it harder for her to bid on eBay in future. You get your fees back.

Neither of you can leave feedback.

This is a GOOD Thing.

Who do you think reads feedback?

Not other sellers. Most of us use Fixed Price listings and only meet our customers when they have already purchased.

The reader is your future customer-- and what kind of impression will she get of a seller who trashes her customers, no matter how deserving?

What you can also do is go to your Seller Preferences and put an automatic Block on bidders with UID Strikes.

And add that deadbeat to your Blocked Bidder List.
