If any of you are curious to see the actual difference between the prices of Canada Post and USPS just have a look at the table below. USPS does not care weither your item is in a box or a flat envelope, they simply look at the weight of the item and charge postage accordingly.

This is a great study in economies of scale. It's no surprise that with 10 times the customers they can offer better pricing, not to mention their infrastructure costs are lower based on land density differences, location of cities in space, etc.

I use USPS all the time, they have great rates to europe and options of tracking insurance for a couple dollars more.(and there tracking actually tracks!) Canada Post really is the worst(outside fo ITaly)

Try Europe.

It's not that CP is expensive, it's that USPS is cheap. It's heavily subsidised by the government, whereas CP has to be profitable on it's own. And, as someone else mentioned - check the economics of scale. We're a larger country, with 1/10th the population.

I can't stand CP, but I do understand their high prices.

in the new today. just google it. USA just passed the law which will require all including Canadian and Mexicans to produce a passport (or other "secure" documents) to enter the USA. Gail

I thought that i read that was being scrapped because of the economic hardship it would cause. Passports are around $80 and the Canadian government was going to require all US citizens to get one too.

It's not only Canadians and Mexicans that will require passports -- US citizens will need one to be allowed to go home! Most Americans who were interviewed agreed they just wouldn't travel outside their own country any more - that'll sure help our tourism industry ... I don't think! 😞
