Please let me know if anyone else is having this problem: since about the time that Canada Post announced that it would be installing area postal boxes, every package that I should receive at my apartment door (postal worker buzzes me and I either go down to the lobby to retrieve said package or the worker offers to bring it up, depending if I get an energetic, kind one or a lazy soul) has not arrived at my building, instead I receive a delivery notification that states "no post boxes". I phoned Canada Post about this and they told me that it is the responsibility of my landlord to have the box centrally installed in the apartment building but my landlord told me that when she called Canada Post about when and how the boxes will be received and installed, she was told there are not enough to go around at the moment nor have they hired a company that employs enough people to actually install them. Who do you suppose is correct? I am disabled and do not own any sort of transportation so getting to and from my local postal station borders on the near impossible. I rely on the kindness of friends who, manned with an authorizing letter that I must write, pick up my parcels for me. Is anyone else having this problem and does anyone know the actual truth behind the CP post boxes?

Probably a mixture of both. Life is never simple.
You could try 'relying on the kindness of strangers'. Tape a note on your mailbox asking the deliveryperson to buzz you as you are mobility impaired.
Again, some will be helpful and some will not. That's people.
I'm a little surprised that you have a variety of posties. Usually the same person will stick to a route for months if not years. I've met both our posties (the letter guy and the parcel lady). If course, it's more difficult in an apartment.

We had a regular Postie who was on this route for years
He retired a number of years ago
He was replaced by a Postie who was here for a year or so but had to leave due to Health Issues
Since then it is a continual rotation of Letter Carriers Cannot tell you how many we have had they change so often
Don't know why but It is a very Physical Route The area we live in is all uphill Armour Hill an incline all approaches
a real joy in winter when driving
The Posties we have seem to last a few months at the most
The times of our Postal Deliveries also vary . Anywhere between 9:00 am and 4 or 5 P.M depending on the person
It's also hit and miss whether they will call up (It's an apartment) if there is a registered letter or small parcel that wont fit in our mail box
For larger deliveries they use a contract company The guy who is on the route now will call up but have had difficulty with this for years
They know me well at the sorting station
I was told by the supervisor they are required to call up so contact the Supervisor when it does not happen
it is fustrating because if they leave the card it can take 24 hours before the substation gets the item
no problem if we are not home but the majority of times we are
many of these guys try to say they have called up but in most cases they have not
our access # to the apartment is tied into our phone Call display shows which # calls and each time they said they did the number used for entry is not there So there goes that exscuse

thanks, Weavers, I think you nailed it right on the head. I now have the same door-to-door postie who actually knocked today to give me a small parcel! And I know the truck delivery chap has been the same for the 7 or so years I've lived here. He is aware of my inability to get around in a speedy manner and it is he that is either buzzing and leaving immediately, but for the most, not buzzing but placing (sometimes) a card in the next mail delivery. So I think he is a died-in-the-wool union person. My landlord called his supervisor twice about this problem because the seniors in the building were having the same problem with him especially during the Christmas season but to no avail. I really appreciate everyone's comments. Take care of yourselves. M.A.

This past winter there have been many times when I have been home and the delivery person has left the white card. Something to do with the bad weather maybe?
