Despite providing shipping costs for international, vendor cancelled auction after won

Hi There,

I recently contacted a vendor on ebay.fr regarding an item up for auction in France.

The vendor initially indicated that the shipping was to France only and would not ship to Canada.  After a follow-up question, the vendor provided a shipping estimate to Canada.  I assumed that this meant he/she reconsidered shipping internationally.

Upon the close of the auction, I had won as the highest bidder.  Unfortunately, shortly thereafter the vendor cancelled this purchase without discussing it with me and relisted the item.  When asked why, they said they did not ship internationally.

Am I not entitled to this item as the highest bidder who received a shipping quote from the vendor as indicated in the listing ("ask seller for shipping quote")

Hoping for some good news.

Thanks,

Jesse

The seller has to formally cancel the transaction and they can't without your permission. The seller must send you a transaction cancellation request which you can either accept or decline. Just refusing to send the item and refunding is not a cancellation.

If you did not pay or paid but was refunded, there isn't really anything you can do especially if it was a France only auction. Unless you got their specific permission to bid on the item, you would be considered an unwelcome and malicious buyer.

Non payers should get unpaid item strikes and be added to block bidders lists. Period.
