Did Canada Post change rates again?

Nothing new...I'm slightly confused.

I was just perusing the Canada Post website and came across this:

Prices for Remaining Regulated Services will be implemented
On February 23, 2009

These new prices will be implemented as of February 23, 2009, six weeks later than originally planned,
and apply as follows:
Ø Lettermail Standard (S/L) over 30 g up to 50 g: from $0.96 to $0.98
Ø Lettermail Other (Non -Standard and O/S) up to 100 g: from $1.15 to $1.18
Ø Lettermail Other (Non -Standard and O/S) over 100 g up to 200 g: from $1.92 to $1.96
Ø Lettermail Other (Non -Standard and O/S) over 200 g up to 500 g: from $ $2.65 to $2.75
Ø Incentive Lettermail Machineable (O/S) up to 100 g: $1.13 to $1.16 (see price sheet for
calculation on weights up to 500 g)

Did they really change the rates?

Hi Loré,

Still confused...I believe I know what rates these are referring to:

Ø Lettermail Standard (S/L) over 30 g up to 50 g: from $0.96 to $0.98 (US Standard)

Ø Lettermail Other (Non -Standard and O/S) up to 100 g: from $1.15 to $1.18 (Canadian Other Letter up to 100 g)

BUT NOT SURE ABOUT THESE: The January 2009 pamphlet I have from the post office says that Canadian up to 200g is $1.92 and up to 500g is $2.65 and I've not been putting any more on my items than that. Am I missing something here? Has Canada Post put out a new pamphlet?

Ø Lettermail Other (Non -Standard and O/S) over 100 g up to 200 g: from $1.92 to $1.96
Ø Lettermail Other (Non -Standard and O/S) over 200 g up to 500 g: from $ $2.65 to $2.75

Confused!

Did Canada Post change rates again?

Confused!

My outlet told me there would be a new rate folder.

The things that went up in February are the few that didn't change in January as originally planned.

Since they are "regulated" services I suspect there was a notice period problem or something similar which prevented them from putting the increase through in January.

Hi recped,

I stopped in at the post office in Melfort today because I had such large parcels to mail. While there I asked the clerk if there had been a rate change. He said yes...took place in February, later than the others, because Canada Post did not have rate approval in time.

I said to him, "Oops...I've been using the rates in the January pamphlet and will most certainly change my ways as of today." He said they were not returning anything if it had the January rates because they have not widely publicized the fact that the new rates went through.

Sooooooo....at least my confusion for this thread is over!

Hi recped,

Yes! I forgot to mention that I picked up a new rate folder as well. They didn't have them on any of the counters though, I had to ask for it.

Have a great weekend!
