I live in Vancouver/Canada and bought an item from Washington in USA and the driving distance is about 3 hours by car now the Global programming post is taking 3 weeks for the postage as they are sending the item from Washington to Ohaio in east of USA and then to Toronto and then to Vancouver.
how stupid is this, please do not use this stupid Global system.
Thank you

Did the seller offer Local Pickup?
Most shippers use the spoke and hub system of sending items and/or people to major destinations for processing before continuing on their way to their actual destination. Nothing ever goes directly from Point A to Point B in the world of shipping. It may save time but it would be extremely cost-prohibitive to put each order on a car bound for a single destination. It would be like taking the car to pick it up yourself.
Now the Global Shipping Program (GSP) adds another layer to that processing because the seller ships to their Kentucky hub for processing and they Pitney Bowes examines the shipment and only then does it travel the rest of the way.
I would not use GSP as a Canadian buyer unless I thought it would save me import fees. I know it doesn't save delivery time.

There are many reasons for Canadians not to use GSP -- but that's really not one of them.
Look up the spoke and hub system of sending parcels used by most shippers. Speed can be an issue, but in terms of fuel and equipment use it is a very cost effective method of delivery.
