This is my opinion regarding Power seller Strike
Is going on power seller strike for a week really going to make a difference on Ebay's ridiculous decision?
Realistically, I don't think so. We must find a permanent solution for Ebay to actually respect the sellers and not bully us around. Ebay may see an increase in their profits after the new fee policy is implemented but on a long run there will be more auction sites that Ebay has to compete against and sellers will have more options to choose from on which site they want to sell on and slowly move away from Ebay. In order to make our voices heard we have to start utilizing other auction sites and make Ebay realize that selling fee increase will only drive the sellers out of Ebay. And without sellers on Ebay there will be no Ebay. Also, disabling negative feedback to buyer is going to give sellers no protection against buyers. I'm an honest seller and I don't screw people over. I've never left a negative feedback for anyone although I've dealt with some ridiculous customers before because I value keeping my 100% positive feedback more than giving buyer a negative feedback. And only protection that sellers have if buyer leaves a negative feedback is for sellers to leave a negative feedback to the buyer. Only one protection that sellers have against buyers will be taken away. I am very displeased by that.
There has to be an option for some of these sellers to go to instead of Ebay before they can afford to just stop their listings and close their ebay accounts. And those people who solely rely on ebay for their only income certaintly will not be able to stop listing for that week.
The true impact on Ebay will only happen if there's another auction site like ebay with heavy traffic.
Since I've been informed that ebay will increase the seller fees, I've been doing a little bit of research on auction sites something similar to Ebay. Then I came across a site called ebid.net
when you go to ebid.net there's very small (less than $1) "featured fee" but no listing fee and only 3% final value fee. You can use paypal on that website just like Ebay. Although paypal is ebay's property and would like an alternative if you ask me but for those who need to use paypal it's there to use. And to me ebid.net seems to be a pretty good place to start with to replace Ebay.
Ebay has been around for long time and people recognize it as a good source to find products for low cost. But after the new selling fee increase, it's going to be very difficult for sellers to actually make enough profit to stick around on ebay. Or else sellers will only have to pass on the increased fees to the buyers. And if you think about it, people come to ebay to shop for things for lower price but after sellers pass on the increased fees to the buyers... Are sellers going to be able to survive???
about myself
I've been selling on Ebay for only few months but I've managed to become a gold level power seller within the first 3 months after opening an ebay account. But I'm not sure if Ebay is right for me any more because Ebay will be making bigger profits than myself for the things that I'm selling through Ebay. It just doesn't seem right to me...
Please inform me if anyone has a better solution or know of any other potentially good auction sites to go to.
