Ebay stock photos

This has probably been discussed before but am I the only one that finds Ebay's stock photos a complete waste of time. We already know what the item looks like we want to know what the item the seller is selling looks like. Why even clutter up the site with this garbage. While I'm bitching I also find the mandatory category listing information that they force you to sell under a waste of resources and time as well. I am talking in particular the category of cell phones and Iphones for those that have never sold under this category. I'm sure some of the others are the same. To me it seems like the CEO's nephew was useless oout of university and couldn't find a real job so he was hired to mess up Ebay.

Stock photos are Great for me .. I see your point but for me I sell blu rays and DVD's and for 95% of my listing I never need pics because what is the point the stock photo shows it all and saves me about 3-4 minutes every listing...

Now in Many other Catergories I would agree with completely but some categories it is good to have

Yes I agree with you. I just listed an ereader that is broken, and the grief I went through with the catalogue almost had me tearing my hair out. Took me over an  hour to do what should have been 2 minutes. I also read somewhere that ebay does not want you to use stock photos in your listings , just actual pictures of what you are selling, so what gives ? For new items, I guess it does not matter so much, but used items need accurate pictures.

I would go mental if I did all my item photos myself!

Never had a complaint about stock photos.

You can use stock photos for new items but not for used ones.

I wonder if you notice that eBay stock photos disappeared from your listings?  I end some of my items as I need to have time to revise them only to found out that the eBay stock photos are gone.  I called eBay twice and they said that I need to clean cookies/cache which I did and still same problems and called them again.  They said it is fine on their end and that I need to list them by "scratch", starting them all over which I did but nothing worked!!

Any idea why are the eBay stock photos disappeared or don't have them.  I noticed that there are more and more of eBay stock photos not appeared with many books, DVDs and others.  Very frustrating as I don't have time to take pictures of my items, especially with the new items!!  I can understand taking pictures of used ones but I need eBay stock photos for the new items!!  Thanks.

I forgot to add one more things.  The problem with the eBay stock photos is that you cannot use the eBay stock photos and to add your own pictures together.  I wish the system would allow us to do that as the eBay stock photos appeared larger in the gallery and I can add my own pictures to show its conditions.  Wish eBay would allow us to do that.

This week a buyer requested that I send her some photos of some new items not yet in stock.  It is the first time I have sent photos through eBay messaging.  They have a notice there to the effect that any photos sent to a buyer through eBay will become eBay property to be used in their catalogue and by other sellers.

I don't like that.  I sent some of my supplier's small stock photos (used by permission) and not the bigger version that I have in my listings.  I will be sure to watermark even the small ones in the future.  I certainly will not spend time taking and photo editing my own pictures and then allow eBay to let other sellers use them.
