Extra fees?

I am looking at an item that is selling for 27.00. It is coming from Singapore, some of the same product is coming from Hong Kong and China. I wanted to know if there would be extra fees that have to be paid even though the product says "Free Shipping".

Extra fees?

Anything imported into Canada valued at $20.00 or more is subject to duties and taxes.

However a $27.00 item send via the Post Office will probably slip by unnoticed particularly at this time of year.

If there are taxes or duties to be collected this will be done by the delivery person.

Extra fees?

There is a possibility that sales tax (between 5% and 15% of the selling price) will be added.

If sales tax is demanded, then Canada Post will also be demanding a service fee of $9.95.

There may be duty on a Chinese made item.
