Free Subtitle Ended June 30th... Question...

Most of my listing have 'Free Shipping' indicated in the sub title, which of course was free until June 30th...

Question:

Am I correct in assuming that if my listings are 'good till cancelled', then each month when the listing is renewed, and it contains a subtitle, will I be charged the additional $1.50 for the listing during the monthly renewal process?

My eBay fees have gone up over the last couple of weeks, and I can only attribute so much to new listing fees, but I think that as my listings renew each month and they contain a sub title, then I will be charged $1.50 for each one, or does the free subtitle carry over, kind of like 'GrandFather'ed in as they say...

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Correct.

To avoid the extra $1.50 per listing, a seller must revise each listing and remove the sub-title PRIOR to the automatic relisting date.

Been doing that for a while now.... 😞

CRAP!!

I have got a ton of work ahead of me. I set up a whack of listings taking advantage of the subtitle savings at the time. My own bloody fault though, I knew the end date was coming up and neglected to keep an eye on it...

Out of sight, out of mind scenario... 🙂

Actually, it was a pretty good setup for eBay... I wonder how many people are in the same boat, and now being charged for the subtitle in each listing on the renewal date, and not realizing it... eBay now has the opportunity to cash in on the buck-fifty subtitle fee till everyone revises their listings... Always some way to make that extra buck!!

Actually, it is a good time for me to end some of my listings early, kind of clear out the dead wood as they say, and then revise the remainder.

Thanks Pierre, your insight is much appreciated.

I have even more crap news for you. You cannot revise to remove sub-titles - you have to end the listing & list again without it.

I had to go through the pain of revising each listing as well a couple of weeks ago but used macros to speed up the process. Try using iOpus Macro addon for firefox found here:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3863

It will really speed up the process. It's also super useful for other repetitive eBay page click tasks such as printing paypal shipping labels (light packets). It takes a bit to setup the macros but well worth the effort.

Well I'd like to be wrong on this. Maybe it's changed from a couple of years ago. I had a sub-title in the listing & relisted it that way by mistake. I went to revise it & it wouldn't let me remove the subtitle.

I talked to someone at Live Help & was told that you couldn't revise a listing to remove the sub-title. If it's changed then great! But it wasn't like that a few years ago. I haven't had them in my store listings because of that.

Are you sure you're not still getting charged for the sub-title though? Have you checked your invoice at all?

That's correct. Once upon a time we could not remove sub-title. Now we can.

The only 'Saving Grace' as they say, is that you can sort your listings on ending soonest, and revise the listings that are ending first, then work you way up the line to listings ending in a week, in two weeks, in 3 weeks, etc...

Unfortuantely, it was too late for me, as a lot of my listings had renewed themselves in the 1st week of July. I thought about leaving the subtitle on those listings because I was already charged for the renewal, but I think I might just revise everyone of them regardless. Knowing myself, I would probably get side tracked at the end of the month and forget to delete the subtitle again, and get another whack of $1.50 charges... 😞

At least I don't have to revise 900 listings in a 24 hour period... Completing the revision one listing at a time is such a pain!!

Go to a 30 day fixed price listing as you relist. Then when they end, you can relist them on your terms, instead of eBays, remove the subtitle as you relist, plus you get better search standings than GTC store item style listings.

Sure. The 35 cent 30 day FP listings have several advantages. I find inventory control is much easier because of the more hands on approach. As a listing ends, you can update, modify, increase prices according to demand, etc.
Plus, a 30 day FP listing appears more up to date to the buyer, rather than an old GTC listing from April. (especially if it is not a big seller).

Also if a buyer searches newly listed items, GTC listings will be at the bottom of the pile, wheras the 30 day FP listings will always show first.
Further, another tip from an older thread with Xena from January- when relisting the 30 day FP listings, it is better to do it via "Relist" instead of "Sell Similar", which will also give you a head start in best match.

When I changed the majority of my listings to FP 30 day style a few months ago, I found the hits increased, and sales improved as well. With the majority of my items being larger more expensive items, I find this works best for me. Again, its nice to be able to relist the items and update things like price and quantity, and removing the RIPOFF subtitle, etc as you go.

Cheers,
AXE
