Glut of non-paying, zero feedback buyers from Brazil and Argentina

I'm just curious if I'm the only one experiencing this recently. Out of my last 20 sales, I've had five separate non-paying buyers (one of which made multiple purchases), all with zero feedback and all from either Brazil or Argentina.

I just had another sale today to a zero feedback buyer from Brazil, so I'm expecting the exact same situation to take place. I do just open Unpaid Item Cases after four days, but I don't understand why this would even be happening. Does anyone have any idea what the motive for this is?

In your description, you give too many unnecessary details on shipping. You are asking to be scammed by mentioning no delivery confirmation and insurance.

Both these options, insurance and DC, are for your protection, not the buyer. No need to tell them how easy it is to scam you.

Buyers do not need to know how Canada Post works and what services you use nor do they care.  Just give the estimated delivery times for Canada, USA and world.

Motives behind non-payers? Many, I suppose. Want to put all that nastiness behind you? Simple. Make all your listings IPR. (Immediate Payment Required)

Their "purchase" isn't a purchase until it is paid. The item(s) remain for sale to anyone else who may be interested until the "Pay" button is pressed on their end.

I personally don't use IPR as non paying bidders are a rarity for me. Perhaps it's the category I sell in but, to anyone having your problems, just go IPR.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I don't think there is any good reason for these particular countries to have been a problem, but I have ended up blocking those countries for now in case there is some problem brewing.

Thank you for the advice on the shipping information I've been providing. I had wanted to be open and transparent with customers about what they could expect (the tracking question always seems to come up), but I definitely don't want to open myself up to scammers. I've been very fortunate over the last 10 months that I haven't had any problems, but have started removing some of the information on no tracking just to be safe.

I used Immediate Payment Required for a while, but since many of my customers buy multiple items, I was finding it too hard to navigate around that.

Thanks again to you  both for your thoughts!
