Good news on the dollar front?

Anyone have a reaction to today's apparent change in direction for the Canadian Dollar. I'm not talking about the drop over the last week but rather the "sentiment" change brought on by the pending (Friday) "forecast" by Mr. Dodge and the anticipated increase in the US bank rate next week.

I'm glad to finally start hearing that the increase in CA$ value is finally "hurting exports", it took much longer for this talk to start up than I had expected based on past experience. Of course there's so much more fudging and spinning these days that most of the old rules have gone out the window.

So are you a "hold" or "sell" on your inventory of US Dollars?

"Eventually, even Canada Post will have to lower prices or US service."

Angelo I didn't think you were such an optimist. When was the last time CP lowered the price on anything? Despite record profits, currency fluctations, acts of God, progressively worse service, etc. they continue to raise prices. Just look at their fuel surcharges. Blame it on increased crude prices, their surcharges more than compensate for the fuel costs. It's just a cash grab because they can.

Good news on the dollar front?

Ben,

You're probably right about G.W.B. attacking Iran. I'm hearing that plans are already in place to begin bombing by this summer. This can only put further downward pressure on the USD. I've read that both the move on Iraq, and the planned move on Iran, are all about attempting to preserve the US's second economy - that is, to prevent the Petro Dollar from becoming the Petro Euro for as long as they can.

Israel, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq are going to do it for the US. You wont find an American front, they will be in the background.

It will be just like the "Civil Wars" in Latin America during the early 1980s. Americans werent involved however the hotels were filled with all these mid 20s US young men with crew cuts vacationing there and the Salvador Officers were actually US Officers wearing uniforms from the country.

This one will be called 'Oliver North of the Desert'!

llee2;
not an optimist, but a realist.

CP may not drop fees, but at some point it will be cheaper for me to pay someone to bring small packages to the US and ship from there.

Friday Feb.4th

Bank Of Canada Noon Rate - USD/CAD 1.2498 (best rate since Oct.18)

Seems to be drifting a tiny bit lower(3:15pm) really would be nice to see it move above 1.25, maybe we will have to wait until Monday?
