How Does This Happen!

Sold a hockey card to a guy in Russia (first mistake) on January 4.

I invoiced him.

He paid by PayPal.

Somehow, the shipping amount on the PayPal payment was less than what I invoiced.

I sent him a new invoice with explanation.

I refunded his payment.

Tried numerous times to contact him on ebay and on his PayPal listed email.

I finally got an answer on February 2.  He said he would pay in 5 days.

Now, the item has disappeared completely from my SOLD section.

If I use advance search, I can still find the transaction.

What happened and how (or why)?

Much of your international shipping around that time shows as $2.50 (same as U.S.) rather than $3.25 so that is prob why the invoice was different. I thought they had that fixed as I haven't seen anyone comment on it in ages but if you specify a separate worldwide price, it will still consider U.S. as being part of "worldwide" so it will show both the U.S. price and the international price for all countries other than Canada. Because you have set up U.S. first, it will automatically show and invoice the U.S. price.

You have it set up differently now so perhaps you already know that. If not...I hope what I wrote makes sense. 🙂

More confusion.  My preferences have been 60 days.  I cannot remember the last time I even went into preferences and changed something.

From the item description in the actual auction:

Shipping:      To Canada - $2.50      To U.S. - $3.25      To Overseas - $5.50

The amount invoiced was $5.50 as shown in the view order details.

Can't see why this would have changed.  If I had chosen the wrong amount, it should show up in the view order details.

Disappearing sales records have been documented and complained about:

Sorry I as looking at some other listings that ended that day. They were priced at $2, $2.50 and $3.25. I didn't noticed the prices you just mentioned until today.

It is odd that the correct price would show on the item details yet the wrong price was paid.

The situation I was referring to could have happened if the buyer paid right away without waiting for an invoice. I believe that the invoice would then say $3.25 to Russia rather than $5.50 just because of the way shipping was set up. But that doesn't explain the item details number.

Since it seems my explanation isn't right, it's not really important but to show you what I'm seeing...if you go to the closed items on that day, click on one of the items, change the shipping to Russia and then click on get rates. Back up to the page that shows all of the listings that closed that day..refresh the page a couple of times and the all the items should show the rate to Russia. When I do that, the listings that ended that day either have a shipping rate of $3.25 or $2.50...not  $5.50.
