I am a Canadian buyer, and I know there are taxes etc...at my end...so what are these "Import charges" I am seeing on some items?

It is stopping me from bidding on several items...and would really like to know if this is just a "guestimate" of what I will be charged at the post office, or another "ruse" by some sellers to get more $$.

Hi suecq57.. Listings from some US sellers are showing a reference to import fees. These sellers are signing onto eBay's new global shipping program..
http://pages.ebay.ca/shipping/globalshipping/buyer-tnc.html
Charges if applicable are paid at checkout and not on delivery. Program does not support combined discounts.
