I found an item listed at US$40 opening bid, bought it now$60, and paid. He wants more money for shi

I bought an item listed at US $40, opening bid, and clicked the "buy it now" button for US $60, and promptly paid the amount that was charged to buy and ship it as listed. This was sellers first international sale, and has sent message requesting more money for shipping and presumably duty. Duty is NOT charged on items less than $60, so I sent message to him to lower the sale price to $40, as he apparently has the right to end a sale early, and avoid this duty charge, enableing him to keep more of the money paid. It is the most expensive shipping charge I ever paid at $17, and change, and I have paid shipping charges rangeing from US $7.35 to US $12.65, highest , all for the last dozen similar items, and complained about his charges already being high. Is our original deal transacted, legally binding, or am I going to have to pay more for shipping to get the item? Will I have to read your answer on the forum or will you email me the answer? If you have already paid for the shipping and item, then he is not allowed to ask your for more money.

Is this seller using the eBay International Shipper Program? (Which country is the seller from and what country are you from)

If you have already paid your shipping costs, wait for the stated duration of handling, if he does not ship the item then simply open a dispute. (Also I would recommend reporting the seller: Reason - Asks for additional funds in order to receive item)

Let me know!

The seller cannot ask more for shipping than what is advertised in his listing*. He cannot pay duties and taxes in advance either, unless he has a Registered Number with the government. Do you have the item number?

* He already got $20 more than in a regular auction... I would think it would cover more than the difference he faces, IF - and only if - he really have a difference to pay.

Suggest you read the listing again with regards to the charges,

The seller is using the global shipping so there are extra charges.

((((Also it is Anything over $20.00 Canadian that is taxable not $60.00.

This from the listing.

Shipping:
US $17.55 (approx. C $17.92) International Priority Shipping to Canada

Item location:
Binghamton, New York, United States

Ships to:
United States and many other countries

Import charges:
US $15.79 (estimated and based on current bid)

A seller can't come to you after the transaction is complete and ask for more money, but most buyers and sellers are clueless when it comes to Can/Am/Mex sale/duty. Most Canadian's don't realize that because of NAFTA (national free trade agreement) we do not pay duty on American or Mexican items if they were made in those countries..."free trade" thats what it means@ duty. It's plainly stated on various gov't sites.

I'd stay away from agencies for shipping, because they will (and can) charge handling fee's to deal with internatonal packages (it's still not to be confused with "duty".

However we are well and solidly done in with the ridiclious postal charges Canada Post rakes in. Makes it  hard for many sellers and unfortunatly some turn to jacking up shipping charges to make more profit which in the end really only keeps buyers away.
