I'm a Confirmed PayPal user but my payments show as us unconfirmed!

I've been confirmed for years, and still am, when I log into PayPal and view my address on file. But lately when I pay for something I bought, it informs the seller that they shouldn't ship to me unless they don't mind that I'm unconfirmed. I've tried adjusting my settings and emailing PayPal, both with no result. Anyone else? What gives?!?!

Same for me. I have both a confirmed bank account and a credit card on file but my address still shows as unconfirmed.

Maybe someone else has the magic password?

Me too. Asked PayPal and answered "it's not uncommon for non-US user".

I guess they didn't understand your question, because the point is we're CONFIRMED users... it's just not showing up that way when we buy stuff. Grrr!

If your address is not a US address, in terms of Seller Protection, it makes no difference whether the address is confirmed or not -- The seller is NOT protected.

The problem was that, in cases of a confirmed Canadian address, PayPal was not issuing a warning to sellers that they would not be protected. Perhaps PayPal figured that, rather than fixing their Payment Notification emails, it would be easier to just make all Canadian addresses unconfirmed.

Even if a warning existed, displaying the word "confirmed" could cause a seller to -- wrongly -- assume they are covered by the Seller Protection Program. Since a confirmed address, when outside the USA, is no better than an unconfirmed address, maybe PayPal decided it would be less confusing to make them all unconfirmed.

Fine and dandy if you're not covered for protection but if you are confirmed it is nice to have it show confirmed! It really irks me that it doesn't.

Seriously, what you do is make your payments directly from PayPal. Don't click on the Pay Now link from eBay, it never shows as confirmed. When you pay from PayPal it shows as confirmed. It's a dum glitch that they do nothing about. PayPal Amanda gave me instructions on how to make my "confirmed" address in eBay the one that shows up as confirmed. I followed the instructions but it still shows as unconfirmed when paying through eBay. Pay through PayPal and it shows as confirmed.

Strange but true! :-D

Your bank account is confirmed, not your address.

US sellers don't know the difference. What they are asking for is a 'Paypal-confirmed address'. We can't get that. We can become 'verified', and our bank account can be
'confirmed', but we cannot get a paypal-confirmed address because our credit card companies won't play-nice and give Paypal the access they demand.

I just checked a payment I made the other day, directly from Paypal, and I still showed up as 'unconfirmed'. So I'm not sure this works all the time. I'm 'verified', have a confirmed address and a premier account...to no avail.

I CONFIRMED my address with PP through my c/c and my payments to Sellers have been showing as CONFIRMED.

When I opened up my PP acct, they put a small charge to my c/c. When I received my c/c statement in the mail, there was an id # next to the PP charge. I went ont the PP website and CONFIRMED my address with that ID #.

PP was therefore certain that the c/c used to set up my account with them was my c/c as I received the c/c statement in the mail in order to obtain their ID #.

PP has shortened the procedure such that payments can be made instantly and people dont bother getting a confirmed PP account. This is thanks to eBay, increasing the risk to the Buyers for the sake of increased sales on eBay and increased use of PayPal by Buyers.

I dont know anything about back door ways that reflect your address as confirmed if it doesnt when making payment. I simply pay by clicking on the Buyers link either in the email notice advising that I won an auction or in the listing for the item.

Never a problem with any Seller.

I have a confirmed address with PayPal. I used my AMEX card to do it. Some Canadian credit card companies cough cough Visa cough cough, don't allow for address verification but Mastercard and AMEX do. When I pay sellers it shows that my address is confirmed. I've also received payment from at least 4 Canadian eBayers with confirmed addresses.

I'm not alone and I'm not dreaming. 🙂 hahahaha

Amanda told me how in one of the threads on the other boards. If I remember correctly it was go into your addresses on My eBay and select the one that shows the green confirmed as your main address. It was, and it is. She says that should clear the glitch when paying through eBay to show confirmed as it does when I pay through PayPal. It doesn't show as confirmed even though I have selected that address.

The really dum part is that I have a choice of 4 addresses in My eBay, but they're all the same one. I don't get that one. ?:|

Verified Paypal account and Confirmed Paypal address is two different things.

If you want confirmed address you need to put CC on file that supports address verification. You can confirm address where you CC statements get mailed. Could be even P.O. box.

If I pay from the E-Bay link, my address shows Unconfirmed. If I pay from the Paypal website under Items Won tab, it shows confirmed. When a seller wants a confirmed address I do it that way, if it doesn't matter I do it from the E-Bay link.

Most likely you have your address registered twice ( or even more) in the system. I have 4.

You can click on change address when paying trough e-bay and choose confirmed one.

It's kind of funny -- I noticed when paying my eBay fees using PayPal, that eBay was unconfirmed... LoL. If THEY ARE NOT CONFIRMED, and they own the company, then why should WE be confirmed? 🐵
