I see bidders listed as Private Listing-Identity protected. how do I become a private Listing. is this some kind of trick by the Seller .

I want to buy a Damascus Chef Knife at auction but I see Private listing bidders that bid an win auction. Looks to me like the Seller is bidding anonynously to raise the price of his own item. Am I right.

Probably not, but many buyers avoid these auctions when there is no reasonable excuse to hide the names of buyers. (Many Identity Protected listings are for "adult" items or for underwear of any sort. )

They are just sort of squicky.
