Hello ,

l purchased an item yesterday a doro easy phone 612. And the money has already been taken out of my account. The bank cannot stop it. When l emailed the user  he did not respond and his gmail account does not exist. I have never purchased anything on eBay and for my first time not a good experience. Try to speak to someone in customer and you cannot speak to a person. This is ridiculous, it is a gift for my dad for Christmas. I need to know l was not ripped off for a $124 please let me know what l can do. We thought it was eBay Canada but it is United Kingdom. I would to cancel and order from Canada. Please get back to me, l would really appreciate it. Just a horrible experience.

That is the email that is not valid.

Thank you,

Mary

Don't panic.

Of course the money has been taken out of your account. You bought a phone and paid for it.

Just like you would in a store.

Now it has to be shipped to you. It will NOT arrive in time for Christmas, btw. And probably wouldn't even if the seller was in your own town. That's holiday season shipping.

I would normally allow 20 days for delivery within Canada which puts you into the New Year.

Shipping from Europe is usually about the same and from Asia, I would allow 30 days.

When l emailed the user he did not respond and his gmail account does not exist. I have never purchased anything on eBay and for my first time not a good experience.

This is more problematic.

Both buyers and sellers are required to keep contact information up to date.

So.

Go to the Resolution Centre.

http://resolutioncenter.ebay.ca/

Open an Item Not Recieved Dispute.

You may be told that you have to allow time for the shipment to arrive.

You may be told you should contact the seller. You have already tried this, so ignore it. If there is a spot to say that the seller's contact info is incomplete, say so.

Did you use Paypal?

If so, it is very likely that PP is still Holding your payment against the seller's good performance.

He does not have your money. It is with Paypal.

So while your bank can do nothing, PP has your back (as does eBay).

I would advise you to add a credit card to your PP account and only use that for purchasing online. This gives you three levels of Buyer Protection.

The site you purchase through.

Paypal itself.

Your credit card's 'chargeback' service.

But right now, take a deep breath.

Has the seller marked the item shipped?

Has the seller given a tracking number for the shipment?

Have you looked on the Royal Mail website for the shipment?

https://www.royalmail.com/track-your-item

Using 'Contact Seller" on the listing, ask for the date of shipping, the service used and the tracking number.

Most sellers are honest. And as I said above you have protection from eBay and from Paypal.

Re: I think l have been scammed!!

This sounds familiar.

The money was removed from your account because you bought something.

It was used to pay the seller.

The seller should then ship and the item will eventually arrive. With the holidays upon us, this may well be in early January.

In normal days, Air Mail shipping from Europe takes about 15 days.

And just to be clear, if you backed your payment with a bank balance, instead of a credit card, you wrote the seller an 'e-cheque' which could easily take 10 days to clear. *

The seller is NOT required to ship until the payment is in her hands.

emailed the user  he did not respond and his gmail account does not exist.

This is a problem.

You can Report the seller to eBay for 'incomplete contact information" There is a Report button on every listing.

If it has been more than 20 days from payment go to the Resolution Centre at the bottom of this page and open an Item Not Received Dispute.

Don't try to talk to a human being. The automatic dispute mechanism is faster and more accurate.

*Yes, it comes out of your bank account immediately. But then it takes time to clear your bank and your seller's bank. If you are in different countries this takes even longer.
