Hi nickiimac.. Email how. Is buyer asking for your PayPal email address.

There is a good chance that buyer is a SCAMMER. Fake emails looking like from PayPal.  Funds must always be showing in your PP account not you've got money , ship to Nigeria and money is yours.

Fraudulent payments here , use contact us to report..

File unpaid to recover your final value fees..

Can be filed after day 4 or sooner if eBay removes the buyer.

High risk item , always use immediate payment required with a Buy it Now..

I would cease communication.

Although an invoice is not necessary to make a payment, send an invoice to the buyer.

Nicely tell your buyer that they need to click on the Pay Now button either from the invoice or from the item listing adn that they do not need to enter your email address to make a payment through ebay.

Non paying buyers deserve unpaid item strikes.
