I won the bid and paid it with the currency exchanged by credit card. however, the seller told me that they don't have the item they listed and they have to cancel the order. The seller must make sure they have the item and reserve the item to be bidden. I assume, in auction setting, the seller is able to STOP the bid any time during the bidding period if you don't have the item in stock to avoid the consideration of fraud. I understand the price is lower than the market. But, this is how auction works. The seller also told me that she/he is the new seller. But I am the new buyer!! I am so disappointed too with this experience. How should I do in this case. By the way, I like the item and I bid it twice to win the auction.

Very unfortunate but there is not much you can do,the seller can cancell anytime,he will have to refund your money and also ebay will more than likely put a strike against him,but as far as getting the item well you are out of luck im afraid, could be that he actually sold the item at some other time and relisted by mistake.could be he didnt like the price

You purchased and paid for an auction item.
The seller cancelled your purchase.
Did the seller also refund your payment?
Yes, the seller can cancel any bid, basically for any reason. This is a basic Seller Protection.
Recently, eBay has allowed either buyer or seller to cancel a purchase within a few hours of the purchase.
This always annoys someone.
New sellers make a lot of mistakes.
They start their auctions much too low, then panic and renege on the sale.
They don't realize that Paypal will Hold their customers' payments against their performance and refuse to ship until the Hold is over. (Which means PP returns the payment to the enraged customer.)
Not to mention poor photos, poor descriptions, and incorrect locations.
Sigh.
Which is an explanation, not an excuse.
Your seller paid fees on the failed transaction, and may have a Defect on his shiny new account.
You are still allowed to leave feedback.
The most effective feedback is calm and factual. "Cancelled auction after payment. No reason given. Refunded." for example.
It is usually a good idea when you are a new buyer to stick with sellers who have 99% or better feedback and at least a couple of hundred sales.
BTW, a member may have 100 feedback, but only 5 or 6 sales. Look at Feedback as a Seller first and Feedback Left for Others as well.
