Im raging at CanadaPost and Paypal

So does anyone else have to deal with at least 3 missing parcel deliveries to the States a month? Dealing with idiot claims agents who take their sweet time sorting out the problem nearly three weeks later; or is it just me?

Also whats the deal with it being virtually impossible to win a dispute in a buyer dispute on paypal? If the ridiculous holding fees arent bad enough I feel like I have no selling security through paypal because the buyer always seems to get what they want regardless of how inane or unjustified they may be.

Sorry; just had an angry moment there.

Parcels lost in the mail. Why blame PayPal, the payment service used by the buyer?

Would you blame the bank if the buyers had paid by cheques? or the Post Office if they had paid by money order?

To minimize losses caused by missing parcels within the postal service, sellers have the option to insure them. I am not the greatest PayPal fan but cannot see why you blame them for postal losses. .

Im not blaming paypal for postal losses.

Im angry that CanadaPost cant seem to deliver any packages properly to the states and getting them to track it is even more frustrating.

I dislike paypal because I lose buyer disputes regardless of how ridiculous they may be.

My paypal complaint is entirely separate from my Post office complaint. Im just bitching about both of them.

Why is it in 4 years that I have NEVER lost a package shipped within Canada or outside of the US? Why is it that every single lost item has been within the US?

Honestly, I don't think Canada Post is the problem. I think the problem lies more with US customs and the USPS.

But I should add that I've found the claim process from CP to be unreasonably long...has always taken at least 3 months in every case and they will only refund my item cost and zip all more, though I know many here have had a lot more luck.

Lost packages are part and parcel of operating a mail-order business.

We get one, sometimes two, per month.

We have found the CP claims process to be very easy, even though it takes them 2 months to pay.

The way we see it is that the customers gets a replacement and we have made an ADDITIONAL sale to CP. Who cares if they take 2 months to pay (we have inventory for many years).

They have always paid full price, including shipping.

Only once did they ask for proof of cost. The trick is to ignore that and simply re-file the claim. Went through problem-free the second time 🙂

Well for what it's worth, I have no problems that you describe with Canada Post. Bare in mind that it is not an instantly resolved issue, but the few times I have had a package lost, one was found, o2 were scams that I should have caught and the other got there a couple days after the buyer notified me.

CP has a nice little form on their website where you can file a claim after 30 days, and they will then hunt down the package and 30 days latter ask if it showed up or not. If it hasn't, they file the claim and you get a cheque in another month. No fuss , no muss, not much time eaten up.

So from the time you shipped to the time you get a chque from CP will be at least 90 days. At least you don't have to chase after them and be treated like garbage by PayPal.

All that being said, if you are losing a lot of packages, you might want to reveive your shipping protocols to try and reduce the number.

But I guarantee if CP says they will pay, they will. I just got my cheque for the last consulting round in November, the other day.

I see you are selling electronics, surely ou are using a trackable CP service because if you aren't, people can sniff that stuff and grab it 😜

You might also want to take a closer look at how you are describing the item on the customs form. "iPod Nano" is surely going to bring attention where as "used electronics" is far less transparent.
