Hi there,

details as follows:

15' tall

Black makers mark.

I sent you a message earlier today but for some reason i can't see if it actually got to you.  Ive been told thanes doesn't have a black makers mark,  and Ive also been told that because the colours are so unusual that it was painted over - which i find hard to believe as its a glaze and not easily painted over, its alsp done so finely and with all the detail on the head.   One other note, I did find one exactly the same listed on a german auction site, however I couldn't get google translate to work on the page, so have no idea what it said.  Thanks! Date of make? Authentic? Value?

I "think" you are placing too much emphasis on the differences.  It is still the same basic bird doing the same basic thing.

That's often not true for collectibles.  Perhaps there were 10,000 made of one style and only 1000 made in another style. There are lots of reasons why the values could be different.

You would think wrong then.

In fact, the base is one of the major ways that Karl Ens copies are identified.

However, this isn't really a high priced item.

There do seem to be some minor variations in selling price.

wesnlisa67, if you list it at the high end with a BO option you'll know soon enough if you have a high demand piece.

If you classify it correctly collectors will be all over it there is something special about your piece.
