In January 2008

Number of Ebay listings Approx: 14 million
Number of listings on other online auction sites Approx: 5 million.

In February 2008

Number of Ebay listings Approx: 13.9 million
Number of listings on other online auction sites Approx: 7 million.

In May 2008

Number of Ebay listings Approx: 13.0 million
Number of listings on other online auction sites Approx: 9 million.

No growth on the Ebay site, competitors listings nearly double, stock price weak. Mr Donahoe, your customers have spoken.

Apparently we have only about 12 more days before the final nail is hammered into the Ebay coffin.

Anyone who invested in Ebay stock last fall(October) has lost about 10% of their investment. My advice to anyone holding it now: Remember Nortel!!

Sell through rate
Store listings
Stock price relative to general market numbers

Auction sites that let you list for free can easily get increased listing numbers, meaningless if the sell-through rate is pitiful.

Yes, thank you for asking. I used to list 200-300 items on Ebay any given day. Now I have 40-50. So I guess you could say already that Ebay has become my part time online seller and the bulk of my business, or my full time inventory, has joined the flood out of Ebay started in February. So nice that you care how we are doing!!

Sell through rate...

Ok sorry, Ebay's sell through rate has fallen from 52% to 39% from 2006 to 2008.

Should have remembered to mention that too I guess.

Care to share the names of those "other" websites so we can leave eBay as well and decrease those numbers even more to your satisfaction? eBay was the best marketing value for me so far, but if new cooler kid comes to town, I'l jump ship in no time.
