I am an active buyer on Ebay with an excellent rating, especially for paying quickly. I leave great feedback when deserved and any issues i try to resolve directly with the seller and communicate my concerns if any. Most recently i purchased an item which was to be a gift for my hubby's 40th birthday. I tried to pay for the item immediately, however a big notice came up stating that i could not pay for the item via paypal as there was a problem with the sellers paypal account. The methods of payment were clearly stated at the beginning of the transaction. That being said, i contacted the seller immediately indicating that i wanted to pay for the item but that there was a problem on there end in receiving payments via paypal that they had to fix. 2 days later, I received a response saying "Hello. Very sorry. I am Esmeralda, iliana's daughter. I have taken over this account and am changing all listings payment method. I can send an Invoice through Paypal through my personal account. Very sorry for this delay. Thank you. -esmeralda
In the meantime, i was receving messages via Ebay to hurry up and pay for the item (which i was trying to do) i tried everyday to pay for the item but still kept receiving the same message that I could not pay via paypal because the seller still had problems with the account. So after a week goes by, i contact the seller again indicating that I would like to pay for the item and that she had assured me that she was taking care of the issue from her previous message. I was polite but also told the seller that not paying for the item in a timely fashion was hurting "my ebay rating" which isn't my fault".. i indicated that this matter should of been resolved quickly so that I could pay for my item as setting up the payment process is the job of the seller. I asked for it to be done immediately as i felt i waited long enough and that the seller didn't do what they originally said they were going to do which made me "suspicious" of the transaction.
After sending this message i received a messsage from the seller saying that I was being unreasonable and that she was cancelling the order!!!! Wow! how did this become my problem???? All i wanted to do was pay for the item but because the seller didn't do there job and I asked and communicated a resolution.... they cancel the order and make me look bad!!!
I want to file a complaint against this seller or at the very least warn people about them ... i haven't left any feedback yet. I'm sure there are rules that sellers have to follow regarding receiving payments etc... and i think Ebay should be aware of these kinds of things happening. Everything happens for a reason and probably a good thing i didn't buy the item however i was still very disappointed with the way the seller handled it.

First of all all buyers have perfect feedback so no congrats there because there is no accomplishment there ...
As long as buyer doesn't file unpaid case NOTHING HURTS a buyers rating.. YOUR FEEDBACK MEANS NOTHING unless your a seller
Seems like they were having issues and you wouldn't stop say lets go let's go let's go .. I mean they told you what was happening yet everyday you still tried to pay even though the first time you tried you found out why you couldn't ..
You may want to accept the cancellation if you think it is suspicious..
maybe the seller is new and confused as starting to sell on ebay there are not a few things to learn there are 100's of things to learn so maybe they were being honest and just wanted you to be patient..
Or maybe they were trying something but i doubt that as they would not have offer cancellation.
Are you perfect.. NO .. Are they Perfect.. NO ...
Seller deal with non paying buyers and buyers who pay weeks later all the time I think there is something missing in this story but if not I agree the sellers should have been faster about things but without know there exact situation it's hard to say..
I think your right here but i think something is missing here but either way the seller did not damage nothing of your ratings or feedback and unless your a seller feedback means nothing because positive ratings is all a buyer can receive..
I want to agree with you but something tells me the seller was new they jumped in over their head and got very confused so kinda feel bad for the seller..
Either way leave feedback reflecting how you feel and chalk it up to not the greatest experience online... It's not like you got ripped off or your feedback got effected so there is not a whole lot to be upset about here ..
Take care and good luck in the future

B...Sorry but I think that many of your comments to the OP are too harsh and are perhaps based on your frustration mentioned in another thread.
"......not a whole lot to be upset about"
Really?
Personally, at the very least I would be frustrated that...
-I had spent the time looking for a particular item and had carefully picked which seller to purchase it from
-ordered it and attempted to pay quickly so that it would arrive before my husband's bday
-was unable to pay for a week due to seller's error...
-transaction cancelled with the inference that it was my fault when all I wanted to do was pay
-realize that I now have to start the whole shopping process again and have lost more than a week
I would definitely be annoyed
I would probably have not responded exactly the way that the OP did and my main concern would not have been how all of it looked on my record but that is simply a matter of experience and of knowing how things work here. Many buyers come on to the board and are worried about their buying id getting a bad mark for reasons out of their control....the OP isn't the first one to mention that.
The fact is that it is in the seller's best interest to make the buying process as easy as possible. Obviously, problems do happen but the buyer shouldn't be beat up because the seller doesn't have a clue.
When buyer's have an negative experience like this, it affects all sellers as it affects the buyer's view about the site as well as the view of anyone else they tell the story to.

prguru11............ I buy here quite a bit and the experience you had is very uncommon.
You're right. The seller handled it badly.
However, I've never had an issue paying a seller on ebay with paypal, and even though it sounds frustrating I doubt it's something you'll encounter often if ever again.
You can leave NFB if you like...............
I don't know if you're dealing with a seller who had money problems with paypal or a new seller.............. and perhaps the seller will be gone in a short time so maybe leaving NFB will be more damaging for you that to the seller?

I agree with what PJ has said.
The buyer's only responsibility is payment, and it's up to the seller to facilitate that payment in any way possible, and certainly not to thwart a buyer who wants to pay promptly!
We can't blame a fairly new buyer for not being sure exactly what to do, and for giving the seller time to remedy the situation.
If I encountered this scenario, especially that bizarre message from the "daughter" concerning the Paypal account, I think I'd report the matter to eBay (and possibly also to Paypal) once it became clear I wasn't going to be able to pay promptly. The reason I say this is that the buyer had no way of knowing whether the Paypal account was legitimately held at that point.
It's the seller's responsibility to ensure that buyers can complete payment. In any event, assuming the daughter wasn't a fraud but was just floundering around trying to figure out what to do, if she couldn't provide an invoice asap, she should simply have been up front with the buyer and sent the cancellation request sooner.

It sounds you are the one having issues ! The buyer is trying to pay and you are calling them out. For shame !

There is setting on US Paypal accounts to prevent payments from non-US paypal accounts and many US sellers have it on without even realizing or admitting. Either bypass this by opening new US PayPal account (with US address) or ask seller to enable foreign payments in their PayPal account.

I totally agree with PJ's response and I'm sorry you didn't get what you wanted for hubby's birthday. Yes, like everyone's response, your FB as a buyer won't be affected at all, so no worries about that. Like you, I pay immediately after I purchase and when I read that seller's sometimes have to wait days - that's crazy. I've never had a problem like you've had but for whatever reason the seller couldn't, or wouldn't, do the transaction - you're better off not purchasing from them. Hope you find something else!
