Item cancelled by one USA seller and I item sitting as Canada Customs.

I purchased some vintage glass ware Feb 3. The seller called me and refunded my money. It was shipped to Kentucky depot. She went to check on the order and they couldn't find it so she refunded the whole purchase.  Thats okay BUT... I purchased some costume jewelley from another USA seller. I keyed in the Tracking number and it left ISc New yorkFeb 7 . It's now sitting in Canada customs since Feb 10 and it has not moved.

Tracking number is LZ426859367us. I am getting a bit nervous and don't want to request refund. Sellers auction site said he was shipping 1st class Package USPS NOT GSP. Not happy either way as I'll have to pay more duty IF it clears custom. How many days do I wait before I request a refund from this seller?  Thanks Kindly..Ace

According to that number your item arrived in Edmonton today.

You may have to pay taxes and a handling fee of $9.95  if it is valued over $20.00 Canadian.

I'm not sure where you got that info? Toby. My usps says it's still in Cdn customs.Your response say 9.95 pier 20.00 purchase. My purchase is 212.00 for win and 41.00 shipping which includes 9.00 to GSP. You say that it is in Edmonton. I live 2m miles south of Edmonton, and I live on a farm. ... Going to go after the seller and neg his butt to the stone age if I don't get a refund. Do not understand the GSP. It's like being raped!! Thanks for your response.

RE: Glassware

Sounds like your seller panicked. She was using the Global Shipping Program and you paid for the item, shipping to Kentucky, where Pitney Bowes, who assessed the duty and sales tax you paid, would re-ship it to you in Canada.

So no reason to cancel.

The tracking numbers from the GSP are internal and are not useful to anyone but PB, probably because they ship with various carriers and there would be a multiplicity of "tracking numbers' for one package.

When the glassware arrives, probably within 20 days of your original payment, you will have to repay the refund. At the very least, if you can't figure out how, at least send the purchase price and the seller's cost of shipping to Kentucky back to her, You can do this through Paypal "Send Money".

RE: Jewellry

Maybe, maybe not. What we call "tracking" is often Delivery Confirmation, which is much cheaper. Instead of recording the arrival of a parcel at every ...single ...stop...on..it's ... way  to your house, DC only records that the parcel has been dropped at the PO and then that it has been delivered. With cross-border it is usual that the quick stopover in Customs is also recorded. So it may have been handed over to Canada Post by CBSA and back in the mailstream.

At any rate, you have been waiting for a whole five business days, six if you count the Friday it was dropped at the USPS office. Chill. It's on its way.

And yes, there will be sales tax and a $10 Canada Post service fee. If the item were made outside a NAFTA country, there will also be duty. This means you will pay at least $5 more than you would have if the seller had used the Global Shipping Program.
