depending on how you have you PP account preferences, customers don't have to sign up with PP to pay you.

Do I need a PayPal account to pay my seller?

No. For eBay items, you can purchase with a credit card for a limited number of times. If you would like to sign up for a PayPal account, you can do so at the end of the checkout process.

For website payments, if your seller has the PayPal Account Optional feature turned on, creating a PayPal account is not required to complete a purchase.

Note: The PayPal Account Optional feature is available only to Business and Premier account holders.

Here's a suggestion: Contact a local store (or friend with a credit card machine) and ask them to accept the credit card payment on your behalf, and then pay you the money directly. Offer a commission for the service -- make it reasonable since they are accepting the risk of default.

Taking credit cards directly is risky -- is it from a buyer you've dealt with before, and where are they located?

Less risk than with PayPal!

Thank you ALL for your answers and suggestions.
I have confirmed with Paypal that we can accept credit cards without requiring the need for the customer to sign up with paypal.
We just need to send them an invoice.
Hopefully the lesson i learned from this "sorry incident" will save you a deal in the future.
