Markdown Manager meltdown: item prices still reduced after sale has ended

Has anyone else noticed a peculiarity with their Markdown Manager? I had a sale end last night. It was for ten per cent reduction and applied to between 130 and 140 items.

The items in question are all still for sale but the sale is over. Markdown Manager sees the sale is over because it allows me to filter the items via 'excluding items on sale' BUT they are, in fact, still on sale despite the sale being concluded at 11 pm last night. The listing itself gives the discounted price but no indicator as to when the markdown ends as is usually the case.

Should I wait this out and hope it self-corrects? I am reluctant to add the items which aren't on sale but still show as on sale to another sale if it's going to cause some kind of catastrophic Markdown Manager meltdown.

For the record, this is what a REAL item on markdown looks like. The markdown price is in red and there is a time left display. It might appear in a slightly different colour scheme on ebay.co.uk but the 'Sale ends in' text is still there.

"I had a sale end last night"

When you check your Markdown Manager, what exact date and time do you see for that sale?

Markdown Manager meltdown: item prices still reduced after sale has ended

Hi PierreLebel. It ended so I deleted it as per usual. Then I went to start another sale with the listings and went to Exclude Listings on Sale (as per usual) and it showed the 139 that HAD been on sale as still being on sale.

A seller can't delete an active sale. It's not possible. eBay doesn't allow you to do it. The sale ended at 23:59 pm EST Oct 17.

These are the results as filtered through Markdown Manager itself as being not on sale.

Notice they're all still on sale. Screen Shot 2015-10-18 at 10.31.13 AM.jpg

"It ended so I deleted it as per usual"

Not sure what that means.  My Markdown Manager shows all recent ended (inactive) sale

"as being not on sale."

???

The list shows them as being on sale

"ended at 23:59 pm EST Oct 17"

My store is on eBay.com and all sales always end on PST.  Is it possible that there is confusion on the exact date and time the sale was to end?

No. These items are not on sale. There is no sale left that is associated with them. You may delete an inactive sale as soon as it finishes and I did. My store is on ebay.ca. The times are EST not PST as with ebay.com.

That's my point. The list shows them as sale-priced when you can see they have been filtered as EXCLUDE LISTINGS ON SALE and the sale they were associated with is more than 12-hours dead. Ended, inactive and deleted from the Markdown Manager.

The items are not on sale, period. Yet the most-recent sale prices are still reflected.

(You have to trust that I know my way around the ebay.ca Markdown Manager. I have no shiny, flashy and wonderful Promotions Manager available to me like I might if I had any listings on ebay.com. There is only sales and nothing more to work with on ebay.ca listings.)

I think it must be an eBay glitch. It has been talked about on the eBay.com sellers board too.

Ah, I never think to look on ebay.com for its Community boards. Thanks.

Now paypal is being all weird too. I printed a label to ship an item and my account activity vanished. "We couldn't load your activity. Please try again."

The 2nd level Ebay customer service rep told me to call on Monday and ask to speak with the "Advanced Applications Department." You might want to do the same.

Oh, yeah. This is still messed up. I had a different markdown that was supposed to end at 23:59 EST Oct 18 and it didn't either. This time, I didn't 'delete' it as soon as it became inactive. All those items are still on sale for half price. Two markdowns now, different amounts, ending different days and the same result: a never-ending sale.

'mj' -- This is not normal.  It should not be happening.  I'd report it to eBay, or -- perhaps even better -- to Raphael on Wednesday, along with your screen shots (or a link to this thread).  Other sellers should be aware this is a problem before deciding whether to put items on sale.

One thing I have noticed in the past few months is that it is taking eBay a lot longer to cycle through with changes on the Markdown Manager.  For example, I found it took a couple of hours the last time I put items on sale before they actually showed up properly in my active list.  I actually thought I had missed something in the markdown procedure because items weren't showing up with the sale price -- the exact opposite of what you've been seeing.

If it's been more than just a few hours since you took the items off markdown, then this is a serious problem.  By the way, just to be sure that it's an eBay system flaw or glitch, and not a possible error in input, check your sale list in the Markdown Manager to be sure the end timing was set correctly.  That's likely not the issue, but it's worth checking.

Was this a short-span markdown?  I'm wondering if the system got wrung out of shape trying to upload and then reverse the changes within a short period of a few hours?  Not that eBay shouldn't be able to handle "flash sales", but we all know how well this site works!  Woman LOL

It's totally a problem. They weren't quickie sales. I think the most recent one to NOT END was at least a week in duration.

Markdowns have been been touchy before but not like this.

I wonder what happens if the item on not-sale is bought. It goes into the cart but then what....?

My most recent mark-down ended last night at 23:59 EST without incident but I still have 150 listings on sale for either ten per cent reduced or 50 per cent reduced from the days before that are actively part of inactive markdowns. I'm not certain what I should do about those. Mister E, can you tell me to which threads you're referring? Maybe I can crowd-source advice.

I'd say you might as well wait until tomorrow, and ask Raphael, to get the best advice.

I think this is something eBay should be looking into anyway.  It could cause some serious problems for sellers (of course, that assumes things are actually selling Woman Indifferent)

Markdown Manager meltdown: item prices still reduced after sale has ended

Having had the same issue of MM sales showing as ended yet the sale price remained intact on my (2000) listings.

Phoned ebay yesterday, was told it is a known issue, they have been working on it for 2 (yes, two) days now and unsure as to when it will be fixed.

I posted on the Power Sellers board and someone was kind enough to suggest a workaround, which was...

Bulk edit all listings in question, raise/lower the price which will cancel the sale.

I gave it a go (took me an hour or so because of the amount of listings) but it worked golden.
