List FREE - 2,000 auction-style or fixed priced listings Start Date * End Date
Pay no insertion fees on 2,000 listings when Canadian Dollar is specified as the currency. Learn More | Nov. 05, 2015 05:29:30 am EST | Nov. 15, 2015 11:59:59 pm EST |
Invited sellers who activate the offer and then create a listing with Canadian Dollars specified as the currency in the auction-style format, auction-style with Buy It Now format, or fixed price format, pursuant to the terms and conditions set forth herein ("Qualifying Listing"), will pay no insertion fee per item listed ("Promotion") for up to 1,000 listings during the Promotion Period (as defined below).
The Promotion does not apply to listings with 1-day or 3-day duration, final value fees, or optional upgrade fees. Final value fees will be applied to the total amount of the sale, including the cost of the item, shipping, and any other fees a seller may charge—excluding any sales tax. Fees for optional listing upgrades (such as reserve price, bold, listing in 2 categories, etc.) still apply. For listing in 2 categories, you will be charged at standard rates for the second category. Please note: Not all upgrades are available in all listing flows. All existing selling limits on your account (as well as category and item limits) still apply, and may prevent you from creating the maximum number of listings in this Promotion. The Promotion is in addition to the free listings per month as part of the everyday rate plan.
Who's eligible?
This Promotion is available to sellers who: (i) activated the promotion from the invitation email or on the Promotion landing page; and (ii) meet eBay's minimum seller performance standards. Please sign in to My eBay and view your Seller Dashboard to verify whether your account is currently meeting the standards.

Hi everyone,
It's true, we are still trying to stimulate adoption of CAD listings with this new promo. Pretty hard to hide that fact 🙂
As a reminder, and despite what some of you may think, our new direction to advise most Canadian sellers to list in CAD is backed by real research with real numbers. I invite anyone who hasn't yet to visit the info page we have published on the subject. A few things I'd like to remind you:
I'd like to thank those of you who have taken the time to correct some of the erroneous assumptions made on this thread.

I can't see anything that excludes relisted items but won't know for another of hours whether or not they are included.
This is a nice promo for Canadian sellers at just the right time for holiday sales.
Be sure to activate the offer.
Hopefully it's a widespread 'invitation only' promotion.

Relists are eligible.

Always appreciate a freebie.
Seems that U.S. sellers promo range from 1,000 to 10,000 listings and is good from Nov 5 2015 until Feb 2016.

Just noticed I was offered 2000 free listings but, in the "terms" section, it shows as...
will pay no insertion fee per item listed ("Promotion") for up to 1,000 listings during the Promotion Period (as defined below).

Shows 2000 in Selling Manager, yes.
But.........what's up with the "up to 1000" in the small print !

I got invited (2000 free), but I never have, and never will, list in $Cdn, despite eBay Canada's propaganda. My guess is that they are pushing $Cdn freebies now in an attempt to attract more sellers to listing in $Cdn because many Canadian sellers decided to ignore their "advice", and stick with the currency that they want to use.
So typical of eBay, when they find the stick doesn't work (the auto-defaulting currency on the SYI form), try the carrot.
I expect the next step, in just a few months from now, will be disallowing listings in $US on .ca altogether.
Oh well, better luck with the promos next time...

The usual eBay SNAFU where promos are concerned, I suspect. Have they ever really got a promo set up and managed 100% correctly?
Who knows which it is -- I'd assume 1,000 to be on the safe side, unless somebody wants to bother calling CS.

So very kind of you to volunteer 🙂

.com is running various specials so don't get too exited about Canada. There are a number of variations but some are invite only.

I did not get invited this time.
It does not really matter as I am finally closing my store in less than three weeks (November 25th).

The usual copy-and-paste-and-didn't-get-everything-modified error. I'm trusting the Selling Manager (and the big print) for 2000 -- not that I expect to have time to post more than 1000 listings (but with 10 days available I'm going to give it a shot).
There was one other error -- I attempted to use the "Activate Now" link on the info page and got: Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only. Went back to the Promo Offers section and that link activated correctly.
-.-
Since it is a 10 day time period you can use 5 and 7 day listings at the start for 2 kicks at the listing can.

Okay ..... so we are allowed to have two listings for the same item, one as an auction and the other as fixed price. Can we then list one item as CAD fixed price on .ca and the same item as USD fixed price on .com, without it constituting a duplicate listing. I think I'm pushing my luck here .........
This is a great promotion for those who typically sell in CAD. The only items I occasionally list in CAD are brands which are most often purchased by Canadians, e.g. Lise Watier, NeoStrata or Yves Rocher.
11-05-2015 12:23 PM
I'm going to guess that would be considered a duplicate listing although they might not notice it because of the different currencies.
11-05-2015 12:44 PM
I didn't get it, but I wouldn't use it anyway. Like rose-dee I only list in US dollars because that is where the majority of my buyers are.
