Hi All,

Curious if anyone has taken VIA Rail across Canada. I will be traveling with our three daughters in November from Saskatoon to Ottawa and then back again in late December. (Our oldest daughter is expecting her second baby in early December.) If you've traveled via this method...any suggestions?

Also...we're having to over night in Toronto. The Strathcona Hotel was suggested as a VERY CLOSE easy to get to hotel from Union Station. Is this true???? Or do any of you Toronto-ians have any other suggestions for an easy to walk to hotel.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks!
Susan

Have a fantastic trip Susan! And congratulations on the soon to be born new granddaughter. There is nothing like grandchildren. As the old saying goes, if I had known they were so great I would have had them first!

Merry Christmas to you and your family and have a wonderful time.

Hi recped and Judy,

Thank you both for your good wishes! I'll do my best to ensure that good weather is packed and brought along...perhaps sprinkling some here and there throughout Ontario! You are most deserving of a break.

My dad who lives in Virginia Beach complains how Canada keeps sending the cold down there this winter. Mind you he's complaining about temps in the 50's because he can't go swimming! *LOL*

For sure our weather has been much milder than yours this winter. It almost reminds me of our 2001 winter when we had NO snow until January 2002. That was a really nice short winter...but the snow and cold hit doubly hard afterwards.

I hope you both have really strong sales throughout the rest of the holiday season!

Keep well! I'll let you know when Mia appears!

Have a good one!

Hi Everyone,

Well thanks to Mia arriving on the day that we arrived, November 29th, we have had a good long time to spend with her! Jamie and Steve are glad that she is now sleeping through the night and are hoping that this continues after we leave. You see...I've had night duty for the entire time...but the last 8 nights have been a breeze for me!

We leave on Tuesday afternoon. I know it will be another hard good-bye for all of us. Our three youngest daughters, Kaitlyn, MacKenzie & Emi, have so enjoyed helping to take care of Mia and playing with their niece, Sara who turned 3 on December 6th.

We have a 5 hour layover in Toronto on Tuesday from 5 PM till 10 PM. We'll go for dinner and find something else to keep us busy for a bit. Once back on the train I'm sure that we'll sleep soundly through the night. We are to arrive back in Saskatoon on Thursday night, December 25th at 11:56 PM...just in time to greet Boxing Day!

Here's wishing ALL OF YOU a very Merry Christmas!

Best wishes to you!
Susan & family
