Ontario Sales Tax calculating incorrectly...

I had 2 different Ontario buyers that paid today and the invoice showed no sales tax on one and 8.025% on two others (same buyer who pd. for 2 items separately). I contacted Live Help and they said it is a problem they are aware of and are working on right now.

Has anyone else had a problem with this?

Can you actually put in the system that you need PST calculated as well as GST. If so, I haven't been able to find it and its a constant problem for me. Sometimes the purchaser pays as soon as the purchase is made. I am not talking about loss of pennies and cents here.

No. As far as I know, you can only enter a single percentage. So if you need both PST & GST you have to add them together to calculate it but then it poses a problem for people out of your province. They'll get stuck paying your provinces PST which doesn't apply to them.

It's a PITA. They make it so difficult for Canadians when it shouldn't be that hard to do.

What we do is we have instructions in the initial email that eBaY sends out advising them "ATTENTION CANADIAN WINNERS - DO NOT MAKE PAYMENT UNTIL YOU RECEIVE OUR EMAIL TITLED --> YOU ARE A WINNER".

Works about 85% of the time the other 15% we simply send them a MONEY REQUEST for the balance only if the amount is significant - we do not bother if the amount is under $1 or so - not worth the hassle.

All I know is the eBay/Paypal invoicing system should be able to calculate taxes properly.

Its ironic how our Canadian eBaY management has never even pushed to get this simple item done -- its even more ironic how US powersellers have not PUSH them harder to get it done.

Ok, thats my 2cents for the day!
