Our listings are blank for some buyers

Hey,

I am having a very odd issue with our listings. Recently we have switched to a different listing template and for some reasons some of our listings are being displayed as blank pages to some of our customers. The weird thing is that it is not every listing, only certain listings which does not make sense since the same listings that cannot be viewed by one buyer are not the same listings that others cannot view. If anyone has run into a similar problem or knows why this happening any advice would be appreciated.

Regards,

Can you see any pattern, like are they all one category of item?

Do you have an example that we could look at, say a listing number? -------------------------------------------------------------------

Are they listed on .ca or .com?

Is the problem viewing them on .ca or .com?

Is the problem with MS-Explorer 6 or 7 or Firefox or all three?

Of course, all of those numbers come up just fine for me.:-(

A man goes to a doctor and says, "Doc my arm hurts when I move it like this."

The doctor says, "Then don't move it like that!"

Since the problem started when you started using the new template, perhaps you should stop using that template. That would be my first suggestion. -------------------------------------------------------------------

These are all listed on .ca. We had to switch to a new template since our older one was to messy and unorganized. It does not seem to be a browser issue since those who cannot view some of our listings are still able to view others, and it is all the same template. I use auctiva to upload all my template. It is as if some of the listings do not fully load for some buyers.

I am not sure if this applies, but I have seen some of my listings to be in 1cm high scrolling window. I analysed it in Firebug and found out it was deliberately done by eBay code using CSS height property. In 5 minutes after refresh it was gone. My suspicion is that eBay developers are scre*ing around with live site. Even more scary explanation is eBay has bugs in production code 😮

No, the 1 cm part is intentional. ebay announced it as part of their last seller changes announcement.

I can't find it now, of course, but I remember ebay saying that it may ( read will) limit the description area for some sellers.

I saw that on an ad for Henry's, too - looks terrible. -------------------------------------------------------------------

I haven't heard from any buyers regarding this issue but 2 or 3 times I have clicked on my own listing and the description did not show up at all. It did when I refreshed the browser.

I use Seller Sourcebook for my templates.

Surplus I don't remember reading anything about ebay but the listings that I've seen that are about 1 cm are basically unreadable so even if ebay was limiting the description, I don't think that even ebay would limit it to 1 cm.( At least I HOPE that they wouldn't) Plus if they were limiting the length of the listing, would it go back to "normal" after being refreshed?

My guess is that it is some sort of glitch as dipmicro suggests.

I've also seen some of my listing and others blank but as westernstargifts said, once refreshed, the listing is fine. This was discussed on another forum not too long ago and also on the .com forum. Here are links for the .com forum discussions.

They're not "unreradable" you have to scroll them to read them.

They're just annoying and I think this will turn out to be a really bad idea on ebay's part.

I've seen a couple when I was looking for a camera - Henry's ads have them.

I do remember a discussion about this because I posted a note on it to the effect that we were all going to have to learn how to effectively learn the use of headlines that would grab the customer's attention enough for them to want to scroll the description. -------------------------------------------------------------------

We should also preview photos pixel by pixel to train our minds.

Scroll away folks.

If you can only read a 2 or 3 lines at a time, that is unreadable cuz there's no way I would read it.And what would even be the point of putting pictures in the listing?

hmm...well I still find it difficult to believe that the cm high listing is done by ebay on purpose rather than being a technical problem especially as refreshing does often put it back to "normal"
I could be wrong..but....I still think I'm right lol.....for now.;-)

On another note...Do you have a listing number or full name for Henry's? I've looked for them on ebay a couple of times but can't find them.
