Paypal labels - Tearing my hair out again!!

OMG, when are they ever going to make this service work reliably?  Now I seem to have two problems!

I just finished paying nearly $43 for an Xpresspost label, went to print it, and got about a 1" x 1" label printed.

Thankfully, I had seen others mention this issue, and at least one temporary solution offered.  I completely backed out of Paypal and eBay, closed Chrome (which I had been using because Explorer-printed labels weren't reading), went back into Paypal and printed the label from the Paypal transaction page using Explorer.  So far so good - it at least printed in the proper size.

My husband took the parcel to the P.O., and the clerk couldn't scan the bar code - oh joy!   So now - Chrome gives me readable bar codes but teeny-tiny labels; Explorer gives me normal-sized labels that can't be scanned -- I'm so sick of this, YECCHHH!!!

Those of you who have seen my posts on this previously will know that I switched from Explorer to Chrome for this very reason (unreadable bar codes).  Now I suppose I'm going to have to try Firefox.  I really don't want to load yet another browser programme into my already stuffed-to-the-gills computer, but I guess I have no choice.

What frustrates me so much about this is that a widely-used and essential feature like Paypal labels should work reliably with most popular browsers.  Why the heck can't these guys get it right?  It seems as if Paypal labels have been a mess since early 2013.

No Joy on clearing browser cache and cookies. It did not resolve the chrome/paypal tiny label issue.

Clearing cookies and cache did not resolve it for me either - all it did was cause me other frustrations because I had no cookies!! lol! One thing I realized: the other day when I couldn't get Chrome to work on my PC I went over to a friend's and printed the labels there. BUT, I used the Chrome browser at his place with no problem. I did notice that he had not updated to the latest version of Chrome (got that notice as I opened Chrome) wheras mine updates automatically. I didn't bother to do it there since I was rushed, But now I am thinking somehow a Chrome update has caused this problem to suddenly materialize when it has been fine before. Just another possible clue......

Well, just another update -- I brought this up at the Wed. discussion and Kalvin says they are going to look into it, so hopefully somebody somewhere will take notice and deal with this problem.

Re: Paypal labels - Tearing my hair out again!!

I am having the same issues. Chrome prints to small.  IE prints right size but it is cutting off the right hand margin, so its missing the last two small lines in the bar code.  I had to have the Clerk manually enter the code in on my last two orders I shipped out.

It appears to be a program issue with the Java scripted and what version of Java and browser you have.  Will try printing in landscape next time and I just changed my margins in IE.  Did that work for anyone else?

Re: Paypal labels - Tearing my hair out again!!

Changing the margins with IE definitely fixed the problem.  My labels are just a little bit smaller, enough that nothing gets cut off the bar code.  Even you can't obviously see anything missing, I imagine it doesn't take much of a sliver off the edge to make the bar code unreadable.

I've had no further problems using IE since adjusting the margins.  Chrome though still prints a label the size of a postage stamp.  If anyone at Paypal/Pitney-Bowes is paying any attention to this problem, judging by the other issues they've had, it will take them 6 months to fix it.

Re: Paypal labels - Tearing my hair out again!!

Exactly the same problem here. I've resorted to saving the label as a PDF, opening the PDF, zooming in a *lot*, taking a screen shot, cropping the screenshot, and printing the screen shot.

Chrome for Mac, Chrome for PC, and Safari for Mac all gave me the same problem.

Which is a lot of work for something that should work out of the gate. I'll see if it scans or not. I e-mailed cdc@paypal.com with a question/complaint.

Re: Paypal labels - Tearing my hair out again!!

I have been having a problem recently printing shipping labels via PayPal and Firefox.  Last week I had to void 3 labels, and today I'm having the same problem.  I have tried disabling the pop-up blocker too.  Contacted PayPal Customer Support and they suggested changing to Internet Explorer - but it seems that is causing hiccups for some folks too.  This is so frustrating!  Before a week ago - no problems printing labels.  Customer Support implied that other people are having problems too.  Hope this gets fixed soon!!

i heard some barcode reader can read all the barcode data, even though part of the barcode data is missing, do yo think it is possible without changing the web server.

I really don't know, but I wouldn't take a chance.  Do the IE margin fix if that's the browser you're using -- it does eliminate the problem.

Or, try using Google Chrome as your browser, since I see from reports on these discussion boards that the labels are now printing properly, in regular size (they were printing out the size of postage stamps for months before).
