When printing labels for expedited, regular and xpresspost in Canada it asks if you package is a "parcel" or "envelope". I usually ship in 6x9 inch bubble mailers (23x18x2) or sometimes (23x18x3) depending on how much extra bubble wrap etc and the weight is almost always below 100grams. Is this considered a parcel or envelope? I'm shipping this way mostly for the tracking, not because I can't get the mailer to 2cm or less thickness in most cases. Ive always been checking parcel and had no problems with deliveries arriving however I had one arrive damaged recently and I was wondering if I check off it's a parcel if it goes on the delivery truck thrown in with a bunch of heavy parcels/boxes that could squish my bubble mailer and cause damage. If you check envelope off will it travel only with other bubble mailers or letters and such? Also when you check envelope off it says Note: only fill in if its a parcel and I dont know if they're talking about the dimensions or the weight ( its in between the two).

Lastly, whenever I check off parcel and enter .085 kgs for weight when I print off the weight is always something  much higher (usually ranges between .170 and .220 grams do you know why this happens or is this just a glitch in the programming?

I don't think that it really matters which one you check off...I usually check parcel.

As far as the weight changing...I've never noticed it happening with light or small packet as that would make the cost of the postage change as well but I have noticed it with expedited parcel. The cost for expedited is based on dimensional weight not just regular weight so if your package is 20x20x20cm you would pay for 1.3kg even if the package weighed less than that. To figure out dimensional weight multiply the package dimensions and divide by 60000.
