It seems there are a few of us on eBay who love quilts - make quilts - collect quilts - live and breath and talk quilts.....so here is a thread for any who do.

This will be a place to discuss, show off, ask questions and/or answer them.

Please remember though - eBay's policies do not allow for self promotion/advertising our auctions.

Sooooo - :-x who's first to confess they have more fabric than their friends or husband think they really need? Besides me, that is.

By hand ?? - fae we would love to see any pictures if you have them. I have a list of websites full of free quilting patterns and how to information - and of course the pictures of finished projects are just fabulous. Email me anytime if you would like me to send them to you. I won't post them here of course because of eBay policy.

I'm just working on another set of fans with that stack n whack ruler - the 15 degree one this time with 6 blades per fan and using a South Seas Import fabric by Teresa Kogut called Peaceful Kingdom, with jungle animals....what surprises you get with every wedge cut.

Just 8 of the 16 fans I've finished tonight and will have 26 done probably before bed. That fabric looks so neat when wedged with the rulers.

They're just the fan blades sewn together - they'll need 1/4 circle base appliqued to the bottoms and then appliqued or machine sewn etc. to a background square. I just scanned them with a white background for here.

Aren't they though - and every one will be different. Never had so much fun with quilting lately as I have with those Bethany Reynolds stack n whack rulers. Now my fabric takes on a different look and it's a hoot....

I've signed up for a stack n whack class three times and didn't make it once!!! Storm cancelled the first one, youngest son knocked himself unconscious and had a concussion the second time and the third time I ended up in emergency with a epigastric hernia - been afraid to sign up again!! But I do love the effect! I should just bite the bullet - pull out my instructions and make one!! That's my usual modus operandi anyway - breeze through instructions, think I know what I'm doing, mess it up three times, read the instructions properly and voila - I learn!!

I found a great step by step tutorial using just a square cut in triangles and the person documented every day with great pics and the materials list, everything. Won't risk a slap by posting it here but email me sometime and I'll send it to you.

PLUS Bethany Retnolds has tutorials on her website so I have them bookmarked too.

I think I'm addicted to this right now - but will be making more miniature blocks too.

iam totally new to quilting.. it took me so long to make it.. it was for my daughter.she was 6 at the time.

sigh,she didnt keep it though,i was donating some stuff to those charities that take second hand goods and she wanted to donate it .. her theory was,mommy, some kids may not blankets cause their mom cant afford it, i want to donate it so some little kid can have a warm pretty blanket...

cant argue with that.. so i let her donate it...

Fae - what a thoughtful and generous daughter you've raised. She is a reflection of you.

We can help you work out another quilt - I like smaller ones because they're easier to finish - Gloria has created some beautiful masterpieces for beds and charity draws and has written her own book on quilting - Kathy (timeechoprints) has owned a fabric shop and there are so many others on eBay that enjoy quilting/sewing...our "classes" are always "open" whenever you need help.

Kathy - I have some of my mini quilts on my ME page and have posted a number of pics of others. Some of those threads are gone now but I could post a few here as long as it doesn't overwhelm the dialup users.


Me at 17 - 37 years ago - a Cameo afghan I crocheted and a redesign of a hummingbird block I drafted because I didn't like the one I saw in a picture.

This little beauty I named A Mini Aloha - blocks are 1 1/2 in. sq and have 33 pieces in each - measures 6 3/4 inches by 8 1/4 inches.

This is a set of mini 3 inch blocks I auctioned off last year. 🐵

Lovely work jazznut...thanks for sharing!! I love mini's but seem to think I haven't the patience! I think it's really denial that my sewing skills aren't good enough for mini's!!
