Hello Canadian sellers,
This thread is open for discussion regarding the recent announcement about eBay Canada retiring USD support from its selling flows. Myself and other employees will come visit this thread and do our best to answer any questions on this topic.

As of Jan.20th 2017 at 0h33, item listed in $USD on ebay.ca STILL relist in $USD on .ca......again!

I was unaware that our listings would be ended by eBay if we hadn't converted by now (my fault), and now that I've migrated all my listings have lost their sales history. My listings used to show something like "637 sold" and now it shows nothing.
Was there any way for me to have saved that? If I had converted earlier would my sales history not have disappeared? I called eBay and they said there is nothing they can do since the listings were ended (by them) just a few hours ago.

No way to transfer sales history from a listing on eBay.ca when relisting on eBay.com. One of the huge issues with transferring listings to eBay.com. Listing that had sales with good search ranking will start start from scratch. Hopefully your popular items will start selling and move up in search.

I had a bicycle frameset sell in USD this morning JUST about 15 mins before ebay then took down 307 of my listings. Their migration tool still SUCKS. There's no way to sort the entries to just take all of one flat rate shipping cost (say bicycle forks, of which I only had 7 USD listings to re-do), which I might already have a C$ version shipping policy created for, change all the currencies/prices and update the shipping policy simultaneously so. I'm re-listing one at a time to make sure all the prices are correct and might as well verify the shipping description info is my current updated version.
It takes about 2 mins per listing....times 307.... i should only need ten hours to do it all. Worst part is I'm already fielding questions from buyers who had my items in their watch lists, and now the items show as being ended, but DO NOT show as sold and buyers are confused.
At the start of January I had about 410 active GTC listings of which 20% were in CDN dollars. In that time, I've sold 29 items, and only 4 of them were from those existing CDN dollar listings. I shall see what happens for the rest of the month (my current plan is to relist it all in CDN dollars, and then as needed big ticket items will end up on ebay.com in USD).

There is certainly something wrong on ebay.ca or on the items visibility...
How come an Australian seller, with 99.4% rating, top-rated, with ebay item# 322056743172 at 899$AUD (905.49$CAD) got
BETTER VISIBILITY listing on ebay.ca than me, who I am top-rated canadian seller with 100% rating, with the same item (252495873416) near half the price (my price 447.99$CAD) of the Autstralian seller.
More, this seller have sold 5 of these items sold at 905$CAD, in the last months of november & december 2016.
I have 0 sales of this item at 447.99$CAD since the item is online (aug.10 2016)...
This is not 10$ price difference! There is 458$ price difference for the same item, and I AM the lower price, I AM the Top-rated Canadian seller on my own site ebay.ca, I am at 100% rating, but the Australian seller have better visibility on ebay.ca, he is not at 100%, he got 458$ higher than me, but still have better visibillity of me.
THIS IS NON SENS.
Ebay: DO SOMETHING !!!

Just another exemple for pressure switch items: see the screen capture
24.60GBP is 40.60$CAD ..... my price for the same item 26.99$CAD
26.95$USD is 35.45$CAD, my price for the same item 28.99$CAD
So, how come UK seller & USA seller, have Better visibility of those items than me, on ebay.ca, with better ratting, top-rated status, and much more better pricing than these ones.??
How comes?
Can somebody explain this to me???

Bonjour Sleco. I just wanted to say that I have been reading some of your posts over the last few months and I feel very badly for you mon ami. It sounds like the changes that eBay Canada forced upon us all last year have hurt your business a lot 😞
It is very difficult for me to say how 'badly' it has affected mine, mainly because I sell vintage diecast toys for the most part (lately anyhow). And they are all quite different overall... from piece to piece. So very hard to 'compare' an apple to an orange eh?
All I can say is that I get a LOT more bids/winners from Canada now (who tend to be quite a bit cheaper lol, so that's NOT a good thing I might add!) than I used to from the US/UK buyers. That's for certain! Before the single currency change, probably 90% of my stuff sold to US, I'd guess? Now it might be about 50/50. Hmm. Definite shift.
I'm not sure how all their search engines work as I'm no expert by any means, or how the whole visibility thing works sorry. However, I think that you have some VERY valid points... especially as it's much easier for you to track your items I would think?
Maybe you should try to contact Andrea Stairs (if she's still CEO?) and offer up some of your info & stats and try to get an explanation re your visibility, loss of sales, etc. It should be easy to compare apples to apples, as you have done it seems? Certainly doesn't seem like you're getting much 'help' here on this site, that's for sure 😞 Might be time to take a different approach with it all mon ami 🙂
Either way, I feel your pain and wish you bonne chance with it all.
Best regards, Alison 🙂

You're very welcome sleco. And I really do feel your pain about it all. BLECK! I too was very frustrated trying to get so-called 'answers' from the faceless people on eBay myself way back when (May/June?) once they announced their changes.
Eventually I came to the conclusion that I might as well 'go with the flow' so to speak. I didn't list anything for a few weeks after the change, let my US listings sell, and then just started all my new ones later in July in Cdn $ on .ca site. Never even attempted to use the stupid migration tool. Probably much easier for me tho' than you I realize.
So after trying to sort it all out generally, I just figured it was WAY too problematic listing on .com site. Mainly due to them not supporting Can Post calculator. I would've had to somehow 'average' out cost and potentially lose and/or have to eat a lot of ship cost losses. Because some things I sell are fairly light, while others over 2 lbs, as I like to offer combined shipping to my buyers. So would they be in NY, or Cali etc? There was just no way that was going to work for me based on variety of items, ugh.
Frankly, I'm not sure exactly how much having a 'top-rated badge' affects their search engine algorithms mon ami. Whether you sell on .ca OR .com. I think some of that depends on what ship preference settings you have on listings, among MANY other factors. I know that on .com I think my TRB still appears for instance. That might be something you could try to get answers about, clearly?
Anyhow, it certainly was/is still all a big mess. Sounds like esp for a seller such as yourself 😞 All I can suggest again is to really try to get the attention of someone in the 'executive branch' a la Andrea. If you've sent her info and she hasn't responded, and her office is in Toronto (I think it may be?) feel free to send me a report on how it has affected your biz (hard copy/mail) and I'll try to personally deliver it to her. And/or her assistant lol! Could try anyhow, eh?
Best and hang in there, Alison 🙂

There could be various reasons. Not all users see the same order in search so just because you see your listings one way doesn't mean everyone will see the same thing. When it comes to best match, I don't think price is one of the top factors. You are right though that .ca does have an odd way of sorting items as when I searched for tecmark pressure switch in best match your items were shown but other sellers were shown just as much or a little more. However, when I searched on .com using those same search words, 8 of the first 10 listings shown were yours. Keep in mind that buyers from different locations may also see a different search order.

What is frustrating is that any top-rated sellers from any other ebay sites in the world, got their top-rated badge on ebay.ca
Nobody from ebay.ca, top-rated seller, did not got the same top-rated badge.
As I mentioned before, that is not correct. If a seller meets the trs status for that site, they will get the badge on that site. You do not meet the criteria for US trs in at least 2 ways so you don't have their trs plus badge on .com. If you had 1 day handling and 30 day return plus met US tracking and other criteria your listings would have the badge.
there is no such thing as a trs badge on .com, only trs plus.
