SNAD.....Are any of you opting out? I did!

I was reading about that Paypal protection thing (SNAD) over on PS com board and I opted out. I spoke to a guy Simon @ Paypal and although he did his best to try to talk me out of it, I decided to opt out for the time being. It may turn out to be a good thing, but I want to see what happens over the next little while with other people before I decide to get involved with it. Seems to me it can open up a big can of worms and take a LOT of time to deal with.

Any thoughts?

Is that the one where the buyer can buy insurance on your item after winning the auction? I opted out as soon as I heard about it. I contribute more than enough to Paypal's coffers already with their exchange rates and I am NOT going to allow them to scam my customers into taking protection on my items where if the customer is unhappy I always handle it myself anyway (doesn't happen often and not necessarily PP buyers anyway). Just a greedy grab to scam some money from buyers. Makes me mad! Although "selected" as a seller who is insurable, I opted out! Glori

Actually Gloria, the way I understand it, the buyer doesn't pay anything. You are automatically put into the plan, and if you want out you have to PHONE them to opt out.

It seems a wee bit tricky in that if a buyer says your item isn't exactly as you stated, you are automatically having to prove yourself, and the decision is made by Paypal, not you the seller. Much more complex than I just stated, of course, but if you check the .com PS board, you'll see a lot of info on it.

Migawd -- I'm happier all the time that I still don't accept PayPal (PainPal??) I've had one bad cheque in 3 years of selling on eBAy and that was someone known to us who made it good, along with costs, even before we knew it had bounced!
