Shipping calculator glitch???

Has anyone else noticed a glitch with shipping costs?

We have it all programmed to only charge $3.95 (to the US) and everything else no charge shipping.

Since yesterday some buyers have been grossly overcharged on shipping when the system calculates # of items x $3.95.

We are getting angry emails 😞

Shipping calculator glitch???

I have only one item for which I use the shipping calculator. It is a new product and I haven't sold one yet so I haven't had any experience with it.

However, I have noticed that eBay is not combining shipping properly on some items, if at all. Two recent buyers were charged double the flat rate shipping charge when they each paid for 2 items on one invoice. I checked the listings to make sure the box was checked to combine shipping and all were checked.

I have had so many buyers lately pay for multiple purchases separately that I am wondering if eBay is not combining them at checkout...maybe another glitch? They didn't pay for them as they were purchased but seemed to pay for all of them close together, but on separate invoices.

I also wonder if, when I send them an invoice for 2 items and then they purchase a 3rd item if it will not combine the 3rd purchase with the first order. I have had many orders paid for like this too (2 on 1 invoice & 1 on another). This never used to happen, at least not nearly as often.

After selling items and when I bring up "Send Invoice" , ebay never combines shipping. I have to change it to the single rate that I charge before sending it. That way the buyer is not over charged. If a buyer pays before they receive an invoice and don't ask about combining, they end up paying too much.

That is another thing I have had to do as well. And when the buyer pays with 2 invoices we have to pay 2 PayPal transaction fees.

Shipping calculator glitch???

I copied your reply into the proper thread in order to stay on topic with other one.

All my listings have the boxes as I always list in multiples anyhow.

Basically I have Domestic and International, whereas International has a USA category and one for the rest of the world.

In all cases "Flat Rate" service is selected from the pull-down menu. In the extra item box is $0.00 and apply my shipping rule "free" is also selected.

The glitch only affects some transactions, notably the ones where more than one item of the same is purchased. Some buyers are able to go through checkout with dozens of items, same and different, without problem. Others get charges double shipping when they buy 2 items.

I can’t seem to find a definite pattern but it is also happening to others as a competitor in the USA recently told me he is having the same issues.

When I manually generate the invoice it always adds up correctly, just not always when the buyer initiates this.

What I do come across on some manual invoices is that the system prompts me to remove a duplicate shipping service before I can send the invoice. In those cases there is an identical shipping cost line and I have to click on “remove”. Again, no pattern that I can see.

Bernie,

I think I have figured out at least part of the problem that is causing that combined shipping glitch.

I noticed that when revising the quantity of a listing from 1 to more, the boxes where you put the additional shipping amounts are not appearing in many cases. Once I noticed it I began watching to see how often it happens and it does frequently. If I then click edit before saving the revisions, the boxes then appear with the full shipping rate in the boxes for the additional items.

I am wondering if this was occurring during the last round of revisions resulting in many of the listings having the full shipping rate listed as the additional item fees.

There is another glitch which bugs me too. When you do a Sell Similar and try to change it from FP to auction or vice versa, the other option will not appear until you click Continue and then go back and edit the listing at which time it does appear. What a waste of time these things are during the busiest season of the year!

Shipping calculator glitch???

One oddity I came across was this:

eBay Fixed Price Listing End:
eBay Store Listing End:

These are subject lines from the eBay system when a listing expires. They are from 2 different items.

I have all our listings set to BIN 30 days and the rule "list continuously until an item sells", wheres I add to the quantity when it drops below 10 or so.

All our items were BIN (and also shown in a store category) before eBay did away with pure store listings so I am not sure why these 2 types of email but I wonder if the glitch has anything to do with this.
