Shipping costs to U.S. small packet air is more than the Buyers cost.

I even decreased the parameters and weight and still came out with a higher cost than the calculated shipping cost. This has been happening for not all but I have noticed more it more often. On this one the parameters for the create your listings were set at 38x27x8 and 0.740grams. which the buyer paid $14.25. I repacked and came in at 32x24x8 and .648grams and still paid $16.03 for shipping.

Usually it is  around a dollar more to ship. Any ideas.

Thanks,

Jeff

Canada Post increased the postage cost on some parcel services effective midnight EST Jan. 13, 2014. My guess is that there is lag in the autofill criteria being provided either by paypal shipping or Canada Post online. (But that is only a guess.) It is also possible that your buyer paid their bill before the postal rates changed and you printed your label afterwards. (I did the same thing last night.) The increases this year were not widely publicized and when I went to my local postal counter today to inquire as to whether they had an easy-to-reference list of which rates were affected, they did not and went so far as to tell me even their own computer databanks had not yet been updated.

Personally, I'm planning to give it a few more days to see if it irons itself out. The rate increases in the areas that I utilize most often have not, I think, risen drastically so I believe I can wait and see what changes need to be made to my own calculated and/or flat-rate shipping options. If it's a buck here and there, I'm probably not going to sweat it. Personally, I'd rather eat a modest postage cost increase than suffer the insult of low DSRs on shipping costs. Don't get me started there, ha ha.

Shipping costs to U.S. small packet air is more than the Buyers cost.

There is no correlation between the value of an item and the cost of shipping.

Shipping fees are based on the dimensions and weight of the parcel, plus optional services like speed and tracking, and in some cases the destination.

If you are worried that you are losing sales because shipping isso high, something all Canadian sellers deal with, you can play with the shipping cost.

Have you considered Free Shipping?

This just means that you include the cost of shipping in the asking price.

Which is cheapest:

$5 item with $10 shipping

$10 item with $5 shipping

$15 item with Free Shipping?

Which will get the most bids? Which will sell fastest? Which will leave you with trashed DSRs for 'gouging ' on shipping cost?

Note that the second choice reversed the cost of the item and the cost of shipping.

Remember that this requires Flat Rate shipping and you should do some research and number crunching to decide whether the higher price of your item will be offset by the increased interest.

And Free Shipping overseas is never a good idea.
