Hello Everybody,
As you can see I'm new at ebay and selling things, My question to you guys is
how do I use the shipping calculator for the USA. the Canada post says the package I want to deliver is to large and does not apply. but no matter what I do or try nothing works and I mean nothing works.
Confused, frustrated, and just pissed by the whole thing...........
If anyone can help please respond.
Thanks Karl

Hi Karl,
My experience, as a Canadian seller, is that the shipping calculator doesn't work worth a darn and apparently never has.
If you go to www.paypal.com/ca/shipnow
you can enter all of your shipping info in the fields and do a "test" to get the numbers on what it's going to cost to ship a package. Then just use the flat rate feature in your auction listings and fill in the shipping prices as you see fit. That's what i do anyway as, once again, I have never had any luck getting correct info from the shipping calculator.
Hope that helps.
Cheers

Have you changed your "options" to metric measurements? Canada Post went metric in 1974 and any other system gives rough approximations.
There is also a disconnect between the CP dimensions and USPS dimensions for almost identical parcel services. Basically, the Canadian dimensions start slightly smaller than the USPS accepts.
What I do is, after listing, check that there is in fact a price showing for US destinations (Use 90210 as the zipcode, easy to remember). If there is not, go back to the dimensions and add a centimetre to the height or width. This will not change the rate but will push the parcel into the right sizing for USPS standards.
I ship hundreds of parcels a year and find that the Calculator works just fine with these two caveats.

Hi Karl,
For the listing that you are having problems with, which Canada Postal service are you trying to use, what is the weight and dimensions of the package?
I've always found the ebay shipping calculator accurate however you do do need to know what the different shipping options include as well as the minimum and maximum weight and measurements for each category. That information is on the Canada Post website. If you click on the following link that will take you to a page which gives information about shipping to the U.S. You can click on the individual categories for more info.
