Something needs to be done about Buyers not reading the description!

I think this is the most annoying thing in the world.

Buyers, don't read the description then leave you negative feedback after you "CLEARLY" stated everything you can about an item.

My buddy just sold an iphone 4s with broken screen

In the description they state in big letters that the LCD screen doesn't light up properly and is dark.
He gets negged for non accuracy, same thing goes for me.

If a buyer doesn't read the description before making a purchase and then they neg you.

It should be removed! It's not fair that buyers can do this stuff when they're at fault for doing this.

Even if you offer to take it back it's like they think you tricked them into buying this and that's why you deserve it even though the description has remained the same the whole time.

eBay, PLEASE MAKE AN OPTION THAT SAYS "I have read the description" for buyers before they Bid or BIN. I'd be your first customer to do this. (I shouldn't have to pay too put "Please Read Description" in all my listings Subtitles.

It's like 1 in every 100 customers don't read descriptions and then complain about stuff.

INB4: I copy this guys idea and do this too all my listings by reading the description to them & they complain that the volume was turned down.

I think you will find that most sellers agree with your frustration.

But if you have ever clicked on ACCEPT without actually reading the 20 page contract you are agreeing to (with Paypal for example), then you will understand why your "solution" will not work.

There are two possibilities for redress here.

The unhappy buyer can return the item, at his own expense, for a full refund. Sellers should be open to this. The whole "no returns" choice is really irrelevant because if we take PP we take returns. Because it is at the buyer's expense, the number of "remorse" returns is minimized.

The seller can add a Response to the feedback. The most effective feedback is calm and factual, but need not be positive. Responses stand out on a page and will reflect as much on the complainer as the responder.

Of course, there is a lot to be said for not posting broken items for mail order sale. Kijiji and Craigslist allow these transactions, free , with cash payment, after inspection.

Well, Sales, this has been discussed for a decade. If yer buddy used words bigger than two syllables, the buyer will not read them. Sentences of more than 7-10 words, the buyer will not read them. Paragraphs of more than two sentences, the buyer will not read them.

eBay best practices are bullet points. For eg:

Part: Cup holder.

Condition: Good, used.

Fits: Malibu.

Refund: Money back.
