No, no indication they felt safe in Spain....nothing, nada, just the misguided assumption of some that people only get married if it's safe.
And back to that 'safe' concept for a moment.......as a matter of fact........the UN has told Spain that their authorities must show leadership in the fight against racism and xenophobia, because of the existing problems in the country.
(Xenophobia definition: Intense or irrational dislike or fear of people from other countries)
So would a person or a family feel 'safe' in a country with racism and dislike of people from other countries??? Probably .....not.

Tsk tsk tsk. Before 1980 there was a lot of racism in Spain. In 1980 Spain made a concerted effort to curb it. Racism and dislike of immigrants has returned. However in the 1980's do you think that ''''''suddenly'''''''' people stopped being racist or have a dislike for immigrants? LOL yeah right! ROTFL
Hitler made a lot of ......laws. Breaking them would have been illegal. Good thing people did.
The USA exists because people broke the laws.
Uprisings in other countries and changes in leadership through the centuries have come about because of bad laws and those willing to stand up to them.
Educated people understand these things.
Why someone didn't stay in Spain doesn't matter. It's just a vain attempt to discredit people based on whatever straw someone can grasp for. Who knows why they didn't stay?......maybe the education wasn't as good as they wanted......maybe no jobs......maybe the cost of living.....maybe a sense of bigotry towards them made them feel uneasy......maybe they just felt Canada had more of a future.
