Some folks really take life seriously. For example, the most recent survey from BMO Nesbitt Burns:
That survey even made front page this morning on Yahoo Finance in the USA.
"Canadians File Their Taxes Because It Is "The Right Thing to Do"
- Civic pride: 52 per cent report that they file because it is "the right thing to do" - Ninety-four per cent of Canadians say they file a personal income tax return each and every year - Of those who do not do a tax return, one-in-four admit they are too busy to do so - BMO: Filing taxes annually could maximize refunds and help avoid penalties and interest charges
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 12, 2013) - With Canadians in the midst of preparing their 2012 personal income tax returns to meet the April 30th deadline, BMO Nesbitt Burns today released its Psychology of Taxes Study which examines what motivates Canadians to file their income tax return.
According to the study, of the 94 per cent of Canadians who file their taxes each year, more than half (52 per cent) say they file them because it is "the right thing to do".
"The fact that more than half of Canadians think that preparing and paying their taxes is the right thing to do says a lot about us as a nation," said John Waters, Vice President, Head of Tax & Estate Planning, Wealth Planning Group, BMO Nesbitt Burns. "Taxes fund critical government programs such as healthcare and education. The study findings suggest that Canadians are keen on doing their civic duty as citizens every tax season."

That is a joke Pierre.
I file 'cause I have too.

Maybe we Canadians are more frightened by penalties than our American counterparts and that explains the high compliance rate.
Judging by the number of ads I see on US television channels for tax lawyers to help people in trouble with IRS, they mustn't take taxpaying as seriously as our good citizens do.

I file as early as I can because I usually get a return and want it back so thgey won't waste it.

The biggest joke of our day is a green one!
How can you compare the costs of the different energy sources and say the
green model is the way to go?
Wind at 18.5 cents per KWH
Solar at 45 cents per KWH
Oil at 7 cents per KWH
Gas at 6 cent per KWH
Nuclear at 4.5 cents per KWH
Water at 3 cents per KWH.
I do not know about your financial situation but I cannot afford to throw
money away like we are currently doing. I expect the best value for my
dollar will be delivered to me.
You know that if all the suppliers were privatized and had to compete that
Bullfrog would be boobs up in a heart beat.
Quit trying to blow smoke up our .. we ain't buying your green Suzuki
and Gore argument.
And the worst part is we are subsidizing the high cost of producing green energy and selling it to the US at cut throat prices.

It's not a very good joke Valve when you consider the people of Ontario are subsidising Daddy Dalton's green program.
