So a buyer tried to pay you in the currency in which you list and received this message from PayPal?

And once again we trust these people with our money?!!?:|

Make the payment via My eBay on .com instead of .ca

No, this is the message we received when trying to pay our eBay fees.

Every day, before transferring out our PP funds, we pay our eBay fees first by clicking on the "make a one time payment" link.

We have about $1,500 of eBay fees every month and find it easier to digest if we pay every day. You know, like fuelling your car for 10 bucks every time 🙂

Have only done this hundreds of times before without a glitch.

Oh well, I guess eBay did not get paid today 🙂 And, yes, thanks recped.

Cheers

Not getting it- Why waste your time paying ebay every day, when they will automatically take it out for you once a month? Also why transfer out your paypal funds every day? (Unless you really need it of course). I transfer it out ONLY when the exchange rate is as high as possible. Ex- when it was 1.27whatever the other day, I transfered over 10000 USD into CAD. Love it when the loonie tanks!
Just my take.....

It's not a waste of time, Axe. It's 30 seconds of our time daily. I guess we could just leave aprx $1,500 in the account at the end of the month but have chosen to pay on an ongoing basis.

Also why transfer out your paypal funds every day? (Unless you really need it of course)

At $150,000.00+ every year on this account alone.... um... yeah, we do need it. Ongoing cash flow pays the bills and trying to time the exchange rate is the same crap-shoot as trying to time the stock market.

Also, I would rather have the change sitting in our bank account than in cyberspace. I have still not digested the time when PP froze a 5-digit sum in our PP account a few years ago over some bloody Sony PS3 video consoles. They did release the funds 2 months later but I swore this would never happen to us again. That was back in the times where we only withdrew every two weeks lesson learnt 😄

Well, whatever works for you, I guess. Most of my bill paying is via automatic withdrawal, be it personal or business, and eBay is no exception.

And I find that I do like to play the "crapshoot" of timing the exchange rate fluctuation so that it is to my benefit rather than just randomly withdrawing it. I find that it makes a big difference. Sometimes its just a matter of waiting a few hours, or even a day or two to get a better rate.
But again, everyone is different. It would be a strange world if everyone did things exactly the same!

Fully agree, Axe.

And, eBay has sent us an email confirming that it is indeed a glitch.

In speaking with our technical support department I was able to find out that we are currently having a site issue when making payments on the ebay.ca site. Hopefully it will be resolved shortly and you can resume making payments using the flow you are used to.

I like the idea of paying eBay in installments.

It's annoying that sometimes I am looking at the balance planning purchases and then big chunk of it disappears 😉

Good one. Thanks.

The only way I would ever pay my eBay (or other) bill early is if they offered a discount.

Want to give me 2% for payment within 10 days then fine, if not then scew you I'm extending it to the very last moment possible.

Yes, I got that message 3x yesterday (Thursday, March 5). I list in US dollars. My primary Paypal currency is US dollars and I was busy accepting payment all day in US dollars. I never let my invoice owing get higher than $100, so like you I use the "make a one time payment". I tried to pay 3 x at different points in the day and always got that message. Finally, the 4th time, later in the evening, it finally decided that I did, in fact, accept US dollars.

My personal guess is that it is another delightful bug. I'm really beginning to feel no one does their job any more.

Same here recped, we pay our eBaY bill just before the cut-off date for a one-time payment.

On one occassion we missed the cut-off date by a few hours and it was a real hassle to get our funds back.

Took about 3wks for the credit to be posted to our paypal account.
